Croatia, in the Adriatic to dream

From Boats to Motors 2018, no. 1, May-June, pp. 108-111.

Croatia is a truly unique tourist destination where you will discover a magical sea and state-of-the-art marinas.

Who says there is no yachtsman’s paradise in the Mediterranean? Perhaps those who have never been to Croatia, a truly incredible tourist and marine destination, if only because it is home to more than six thousand kilometers of coastline and more than a thousand islands, moreover washed by one of the cleanest and most protected seas on the planet. But there is much more: during the last three decades, Croatia has become increasingly popular as a recreational destination thanks in part to the extraordinary nautical infrastructure with which it has been, and is continuing to be, equipped. In fact, along the coast today there are more than 60 marinas, in addition to so-called seasonal marinas that are located on many islands far from the coast and in bays, all of which are licensed with space for boaters. But in Croatia, heavenly is also the cuisine, because the rich Adriatic Sea gives cooks and chefs some of the tastiest fish and seafood to be found. Indeed, Croatian nature is still wild and unspoiled on the sea and on land: only here, in fact, is it possible to sail surrounded by wonderful wildlife and special natural beauty. Such as in the Bay of Kvarner, a stretch of sea that opens southeast of the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula and in which the islands of Krk, Rab and Losinj are also located. Throughout the summer, the weather is favorable for setting course for these islands, landing on which you can visit beautiful beaches.

Such as the sandy Baska Lido that opens up on the east coast of theisland of Krk. A little further south, on the shores of wilder Cres, the bays surrounding Punta Kriza are not to be missed. That of Cikat, on the other hand, is the most spectacular shoreline on theisland of Losinj: pale sand and pebbles are washed by azure seas. Heading east, one encounters the rugged part of Rab, which is characterized by a completely different landscape with inviting bays surrounded by trees and truly lush nature. Such as the three deep coves called Drage, which are a true Eden for traveling with children. Those who like to always have a safe mooring with all services at their disposal will find theACI Marina in Supetarska Draga just a short distance away. Before leaving Rab, a visit to its picturesque “capital” is mandatory. Not least because walking along the imposing city walls of the medieval town feels like stepping back in time. Even further south on theisland of Pag you will discover the karst Simuni Fjord: perfect for spending a day sunbathing and diving.
