Christmas can be a great time to think about getting a new boat! And in the magnum sea of presentations one can lose one’s bearings. Here, then, is a review of the most interesting boats to be presented at the upcomingBoot Düsseldorf, January 17-25.

Boot Düsseldorf (under 10 m)

The under-10-meter segment at the German fair is very interesting, since, being completely dry, it attracts numerous models of all kinds. We see six of them, multipurpose, easy to handle, with layouts and equipment for all tastes, from family pleasure to sporty.

Wellcraft 28 – 9 m: not just fishing

W28 Explorer

After the success of the 38 range, presented in two versions, Wellcraft presents a “reduced” version, the new 28 precisely, that can offer the same philosophy in a more compact version, and watercraft. But even more, if we consider that this “little one” literally makes itself into four, like the available layouts: lounge, the most versatile; barracuda, clearly designed for fishing; relax, devoted to conviviality; and finally sleeper, for those who want to spend a few days on board.

Nordkapp Enduro 830 – 8 m: Scandinavian day-boat

If adventure boats are a kind of nautical declination of the automotive van-life, this Nordkapp Enduro 830 is a marine version of an SUV. It is a boat designed for outdoor living, with as many as four deck layouts available, ranging from a full open to a well sheltered helm station, and even a small cabin below deck for resting or spending the night at anchor. One can customize every single detail with an extensive configurator on the shipyard’s website.

Boot Düsseldorf: Zodiac X9CC – 9 m: the RIB “revised”

A name, a program: Zodiac simply needs no introduction in the airboat industry. At the German show it brings the X9CC, an 8.6 m long and 3.32 m wide RIB with a double-step hull. It fits into the range inaugurated with the X10, which brings the D-shape tubular concept to Zodiac: you have only half of the outer tubular, freeing up a lot of useful deck space and raising the freeboard to give even more protection to those on board.

Marcopolo MP10 – 10 m: the Italian-style adventure

With its “mini-explorer” look, it is one of the most eagerly awaited new products to be seen live. Walkaround, which marks the debut of a new all-Italian shipyard, aims to redesign the typical lines of adventure boats. The aesthetics are very particular, almost like a work boat, but the bow so open, almost square, certainly has the merit of bringing a lot of space on board and volume below deck.

Sterk 26 – 8 m: fun and adrenaline-pumping

If we really liked the Sterk 31 for its pleasant ride, we can only expect the same from this 26-foot version of it. A new 8-footer that reduces the beam within the limits of carriageability, further increasing the versatility of this vessel. The identity is that of a day boat that nonetheless does not give up a minimum of below decks with separate bathroom and shower, thanks to the pontil bow with a large sundeck. The steppe hull that had made us find her big sister so enjoyable remains.

Boot Düsseldorf : Highfield ADV9 – 9m: the sporty crossover

ADV stands for Adventure, a segment that is becoming increasingly popular. Last year we tested its 7-meter smaller sister, a fun and versatile vehicle. ADV9 follows the traced groove by declining it on 9 meters, maintaining the operational/excursion vehicle setup. Halfway between boat and dinghy, the exact definition is cross-over: the tubulars are small and tall, take up little space, protect well, give reserve thrust, but the seaworthiness is that of a boat. The increased size gives the opportunity for a small cabin under the bow sundeck.
