Transparent Tender - Decktent Formentera
Transparent Tender – Decktent Formentera

A transparent tender like Decktent’s Formentera you have never seen. The tubular is a classic inflatable, as seen on similar, “traditional” models, but the dunnage is not made of any of the materials we are used to seeing it in. It is not made of aluminum, it is not collapsible, and it is not inflatable. This is a tender with a transparent plywood dunnage.

It is produced by Decktent, a Spanish company that comes from a completely different product, because for the past few years they have been making inflatable canopies that inflate in no time and attach easily to pulpits or stanchions and shade the bow. We told you about them in this article, explaining all their characteristics. But now let’s see what the features of the new transparent tender Formentera are.

Formentera – The transparent tender for exploration

During the last Mets in Amsterdam, the company Decktent launched a new product that has nothing to do with awnings. It is called Formentera and it is a dinghy with the classic inflatable tube (in every way similar to any other dinghy) but with the pRigid ally made of transparent plywood! It can be purchased in different sizes, with lengths ranging from 2 and 3.30 meters, and for a maximum load capacity ranging from 290 kilograms of the smallest (which can be powered by an outboard of 2 horses or equivalent power) to the 540 kilograms of the larger one, which is propelled by an engine of 15 horses (or equivalent, for electric). Included in the standard package of the Decktent Formentera, in addition to the dinghy, are a pair of oars, the seat, a pump that is used for foot inflation, and a repair kit.

It is a great idea for those who have children on board, and can keep them entertained by looking at fish and the bottom from the dunnage, but not only that. Indeed, anyone can appreciate the beauty of the seabed while sailing with this tender, and there is also a safety issue. Seeing what is under our tender can-in some cases-be very useful, as well as fascinating.
