Abarth Offshore: the Scorpio 500 is now a boat. What does it look like

Abarth becomes a boat: here is Abarth Offshore. For Scorpio’s 75th birthday, the brand also unveiled a project on water. Made in collaboration with Car Off Shore, this model was presented by Monaco, at an exclusive show like Top Marques.

That cars could also be “boats” had already been shown by the Amoretti brothers and Marcolino De Candia when, in 1999, they crossed the Atlantic in an ‘ 87 Volkswagen Passat and an ‘ 81 Ford Taunus. No, you did not misread. But that is another story we tell you here!

Back to the marine 500 Abarth. We often see “interference” from the automotive world in nautical brands, but here unlike other cases, such as the new Maserati boat or that Lamborghini, or even more so the BMW boat, we have a model that mimics the features of the car totally, but with a fairing under the waterline and not the wheels. Who knows whether it was the legendary voyage of the
Autonauts
that gave Car Off Shore the inspiration for these 500 of the Sea projects. Of course, in the case of the shipyard we are dealing with real boats, but seen from the outside they look like cars through and through.

Limited edition of 500 units 100% customizable and the Scorpio 500 line declined for water. This is not entirely new in the sense that Car Off Shore had previously done a similar project with the
500 classic
. Now it is time for the most pushed version of this model, which will be powered by 230 inboard horsepower with hydrojet and Riva racing exhausts.

It was designed by Car Off Shore, but the design saw both Abarth and the Fiat Style Center bringing their “input” to bear on this hull, which has the objective, also quite explicit, of taking lovers of the brand on the water by re-proposing the same features as the road version.

Space, then, for speed with gaudy colors, sporty trim and powerful engine. In this regard, the choice of hydrojet propulsion allows the 230 horsepower to reach its potential while Riva racing exhausts bring an aggressive sound typical of Abarths on board.

How does it become a hot-hatch on water? The Abarth Offshore has a rigid but openable hard-top that wraps around the dashboard and protects those at the helm with a large windshield.

Sporty even in outfitting, and so here are Besenzoni seats with ergonomic quilted leather backrests, a matched pair of 4-point belts and a steel support base cushioned by Wave Shock for better comfort when sailing.

What boat is the Abarth Offshore

This Abarth of the sea is the classic “barge” for inshore joyrides, that is, a vehicle that takes you swimming and also allows you to enjoy sun and sea thanks to a double sundeck aft.

Equipment includes a Garmin stereo system with RGB LEDs with four Fusion speakers and a subwoofer that uses the dashboard as a sounding board.
