Distinguishing means daring, and Astondoa‘s new 67-footer does just that. This 19-metre yacht, the second model in the Coupé family after the 377, adds not just 30 feet to its predecessor, but a new type of boat to the Spanish yard’s offer. We climbed on board at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022. The imprint, starting with the exterior, is that of a gritty boat. Astondoa has never hidden the fact that it draws its inspiration from the automotive industry and this model goes in that direction. The stern platform, for example, recalls the rear of a supercar with lines characterised by gaps and sporty curves.

The profile is muscly, with an upturned bow and soft, yet decisive lines. On deck, the large glazed superstructure is what gives the hull its coupé look and it is thanks to the skilful work on the shapes that the boat is sporty.

What’s more, the boat features a large cockpit with a central sundeck aft, under which there is a large tender garage. In the bow there is another important living area with a second table that becomes a sundeck. The saloon is available in different layouts depending on requirements.

A fully-equipped galley, a sofa with a central table or a large TV cabinet. At Astondoa, much is made in-house and so there is plenty of room for customisation. Another feature of this model, in keeping with the times, is that this yacht is the first in the world whose interior design was chosen by the online community. From the ceiling lighting to the design of the windows, the aim was to create original effects. For example, we see the use of leather bulkheads with an irregular base to give the interior dynamism.

Special features include the helm station, which really does look like a cross between an aeroplane cockpit and a supercar.

Interior

Both the master and guest cabins follow the same pattern of exclusivity and design that defines the rest of the boat. For example, there are three double cabins, with the owner’s cabin amidships and an optional smaller cabin that can be replaced with a head.

Like all Astondoa yachts, the new 677 Coupe is distinguished by its versatility in configuring the interior spaces to meet the different needs of clients. Thus, the owner can choose between:

– 4 cabins and 3 heads

– 3 cabins + 3 heads + galley

– 3 cabins and 3 heads + guest toilet + hall

When Alfa Romeo built superfast motorboats

Probably not everyone knows about Alfa Romeo’s foray into the world of powerboating. Or rather, powerboat racing. We relived it by visiting the beautiful museum in Arese, near Milan, Md, which traces the history of the automaker founded in 1910
