The Italian marine industry marks a new step toward the future of automation thanks to the agreement signed between Avikus and SAIM Marine. The HD Hyundai subsidiary, a global leader in autonomous navigation technology, has chosen SAIM Marine’s experience and distribution capillarity to introduce its artificial intelligence-based systems to the domestic market. This collaboration aims to transform the experience of Italian boaters by making available the NEUBOAT range, a technology that promises to redefine standards of safety and comfort on board.

A strategic synergy for the European market

Under the agreement, SAIM Marine will use its established distribution network to supply Avikus solutions to customers throughout Italy, serving as a bridgehead for further expansion of the Korean brand in Europe. Do-Hyeong Lim, CEO of Avikus, expressed great optimism about this partnership, stressing that SAIM Marine’s reputation and customer-oriented approach are key elements in presenting high-tech products in a demanding market such as Europe. The common goal is to meet the growing demand for solutions that simplify maneuvering.

Artificial intelligence at the service of recreational boating

At the heart of Avikus’ technological offering is the NEUBOAT system, which has already won several international awards such as the CES innovation award and the Red Dot Design Award. The range consists of solutions that take the stress out of the most critical phases of navigation, such as mooring, by offering a zenithal view of the vessel and constant monitoring of obstacles. The latest evolution, called NEUBOAT Navi with Control, further elevates the level of assistance by providing real-time information on the position, distance and speed of surrounding objects. With an intelligent autopilot and an intuitive interface, the system allows each maneuver to be handled with unprecedented smoothness.

SAIM Marine’s role in the evolution of the supply chain

For SAIM Marine, this partnership is a natural complement to an already rich portfolio of high-tech components. Marco Donà, of SAIM, highlighted how the European marine market is rapidly entering a new digital generation and how Avikus products are the ideal catalyst for this change. Founded in 1951, SAIM has been a reference partner for major Italian and foreign shipyards for decades. Thanks to its capillary service network of more than one hundred authorized centers distributed between Italy, France and the Adriatic area, the company will guarantee not only distribution, but also the technical support necessary for the integration of these complex artificial intelligence systems on board vessels.
