2021 is the year of Azimut 53. The mid-range flybridge proves to be a boat in demand and with an ever-active market. This is why Azimut decided to focus on this new model, but with a very specific purpose. Making this 16 meters suitable for long cruises with the family.

The market trend, which is increasingly focused on wide-body boats, has shown that owners are looking for boats to stay at sea for long periods of time in total comfort. Therefore, more volume and more space on board are needed. With the Azimut 53, the shipyard will try to bring to the 16 meters all that interior space that is required of a boat of this type today, without sacrificing the streamlined lines of the flybridge according to Azimut.
Azimut 53 flybridge: for long sailings
The exterior design of this boat is the work of Alberto Mancini. The collaboration thus continues the path of research already begun with the shipyard on the latest models of the Flybridge and S lines. For the interiors, on the other hand, the design is by Azimut’s style office.
What’s new about this 53-foot flybridge? The stated goal is to offer, already in the 50-foot segment, a boat suitable for the family that wants to arrange long stays on board.
So here are all the innovations that allow the Azimut 53 Flybridge to gain space and livability:
- the living area is arranged almost on a single floor
- the kitchen, located at the entrance, and the living area are separated by a height difference of just 25 centimeters
- side windows, past the entrance area, run all the way to the windshield, without the presence of mullions. In this way, natural light and sea views are enhanced
- Storage space, seating depth and kitchen equipment to ensure versatility

The adoption of the Volvo IPS propulsion system, which keeps the center of gravity low and reduces the space requirements of the engine room, makes it possible to limit the step height between the kitchen and living area with benefits for the sleeping area as well.
In the middle of the boat is a master suite in which one can move, for the most part, in a full-height environment. The suite’s storage spaces are impressive, with a fully equipped walk-in closet to which a second storage column is added. In addition, there are half-height cabinets along the right broadside and additional space under the bed for storing bulky items.
Space has been made in the lobby to be able to install a washer-dryer with ample storage space without taking away area from the third twin-bed cabin. The forward VIP cabin is particularly comfortable, above the market average in terms of offering storage space and passage between bed and bulkhead.

With a single staircase connecting to the swim platform, the L-shaped sofa in the cockpit extends and increases in depth to be more comfortable while access to the outdoor storage area (or crew cabin). Aft is then a bar cabinet with ice maker, and bottle blasters.
At the bow and on the flybridge, the cushions in the sunbathing areas are, in shape, thickness, and the width of the surfaces designed specifically for the rioso. And in the area furthest aft of the fly, the classic dinette area becomes more versatile with the proposal of a raise-lower table that transforms it into a second elevated living room overlooking the sea.
Propulsion of the Azimut 53 Flybridge
The naval architecture was developed by the R&D technical department of Azimut-Benetti. The two Volvo Penta IPS 950 engines ensure not only more volume on board, but also comfort, efficiency and maneuverability. The two engines allow a maximum speed of 31 knots and a cruising speed of 27 while significantly reducing fuel consumption and noise and making mooring operations even easier.
