The 18-meter Azimut S6 is the second model in Azimut Yachts’ new generation of S powerboats, the shipyard’s sporty range, characterized by the extensive use of carbon in its construction and marks another step forward in the shipyard’s pioneering research and development.
The combination of Carbon Tech and triple Volvo Penta IPS propulsion makes the S6 the most technologically advanced yacht in its class, capable of achieving high levels of efficiency combined with maneuverability and quietness. The S6 will have its world premiere at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival (September 2018).
Azimut S6, the irresistible elegance of carbon
A younger sibling of the S7, anointed as a design icon after its installation at Milan Design Week last April, the S6 is a pure coupe with a sporty vocation that aims to achieve very high levels of efficiency, thanks to the combination of Volvo Penta IPS and Carbon Tech triple propulsion.
The exterior lines, designed by Stefano Righini, echo and emphasize the collection’s sporty vocation. The conjugate bow shield with trapezoidal bow and hull windows typical of Ss are even wider. The rectangular shape makes the yacht’s profile instantly recognizable. They give the interior a lot of brightness, especially in the master suite. Further characterizing the profile are the large glazing on the diamond-cut deckhouse, that is, made on slightly embossed planes joined diagonally.
Francesco Guida, in his second collaboration with the shipyard, furnished the interiors with a style based on modern, understated elegance. The decor chosen for the launch features the combination of two different light oak and dark oak essences paired with wooden tops featuring original patterns and glossy finish and set within polished chrome steel frames.
An important role was reserved for lighting, for which indirect lights were added alongside traditional lights to give the spaces more airiness.
Below deck
Below deck, accessed by a central staircase, is the sleeping area with three cabins and two bathrooms. The choice of triple Volvo Penta IPS700 engines is combined with the extensive use of carbon for superstructure, aft swim platform, garage and sunroof. This puts the S6 at the forefront in terms of technology. It then entails important benefits, such as fuel efficiency as well as reduced vibration and noise. In addition, in addition to greater acceleration, triple propulsion, due to the greater distance between the two outer pods, provides superior maneuvering responsiveness.
The reduced engine room allowed for a very large garage that can accommodate a water-jet tender up to 3.3 meters in length. Also on the S6 Azimut Yachts offers a custom tender, the PIRELLI J33 – Azimut Special Edition specially built by Tecnorib. Learn more
