Azimut Yachts launches a new range that will debut with theAzimut Seadeck 6, a 60-foot (18-meter) hybrid cruiser designed to bring life on board closer to the natural surroundings. Highly technological, the Seadeck 6 will be a hybrid vehicle with solutions aimed at reducing its emissions by up to 40 percent.
Azimut Seadeck 6
With the Seadeck 6 we will see the debut of a new range that aims for a “return to nature.” What does it mean? On the one hand, work to have reduced emissions, and on the other hand, design solutions that bring those on board closer to their surroundings.
The Seadeck 6 will be precisely the first model to debut, to be scheduled at Boot Düsseldorf 2024, to be followed by the Seadeck 7 and Seadeck 8. Let’s focus on this and preview what it will look like.
Azimut Seadeck – Project
The Seadeck 6 brings with it a philosophy that is as simple as it is clear: more space on board and lots of attention to the environment. Pivotal element at the experience level is the “back to nature,” i.e., contact with the sea with family cruising boat volumes and layouts.
Azimut Seadeck 6 – Layout and Spaces
On board, from the hand of Alberto Mancini and Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez comes Fun Island. What is it? A reinvented aft space, a lounge directly on the water for those in the cockpit or salon. Giovanna Vitelli, president of Azimut Benetti Group, defines this space as:
“An onboard environment reimagined to provide an immersive experience in nature, but also a new way of being together on the boat. Because when the large windows are open interiors and exteriors become one, and the ability to interact among everyone, including those in the water, breaks down the last physical and social barrier. It is the space, real and symbolic, of ‘fun.'”
So we have a space that puts the outside in continuous conversation with life on board, offering almost a private island. An ideal that is also recovered in the lines and volumes elaborated Alberto Mancini, sinuous and essential.
Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez decline their vision in interiors to make an enclosed space, such as the interior of a yacht, voluminous, even in terms of impact. To do so, it is basic to choose the right materials such as cork to replace teak, thus also responding to sustainability issues.
The Hybrid Yacht
To conclude, with the numbers so far disclosed, the series will feature significant use of materials such as carbon. What does this mean? Decreasing weight and consequently fuel consumption, which in turn is optimized by an extremely efficient planing hull.
Propulsion, on the other hand, again to be able to contribute on the environmental front, will be provided by a Volvo Penta hybrid system, while roadstead stops can be zero-emission on site, thanks to a state-of-the-art battery pack.
An overall combination that, the shipyard claims, will allow CO2 emissions to be cut by up to 40 percent in an average year of use compared to a conventional flybridge boat of similar size.
