Sporty, glamorous and convivial. These are the highlights of the new generation of Azimut Yachts boats which, after the Verve 47, sees its “compact” version make its market debut: the 13-metre Azimut Verve 42. This project is designed primarily for the American market with a sporty DNA emphasized by the outboard stern drive propulsion (up to 1,350 hp) and a hull designed by Micheal Peters. What this kind of boat lacks in the U.S., however, is that Italian taste that does not only mean luxury (which is certainly not lacking on this model), but also elegance. The Verve 42 aims to bring just that. Is the recipe right? It seems so, since 33 examples are already booked and today, to order one, you will have about two years on the waiting list.
Azimut Verve 42
The Azimut Verve 47 had been a success, and the Verve 42 is not to be outdone by going after a younger niche of owners. If the top speed of this sprint weekender is anything but trivial – 45 knots with three 450 hp outboards – it is the range at cruising speed that the yard promises to impress: 200 nautical miles at 33 knots. The engines play a role, of course, but credit must also go to guru Michael Peters’ step hull, which had already worked great on the 47.
Peters for the hull, Francesco Struglia for the interior and exterior. The Italian designer has worked on the contact between water and guests on board with glazing that, from the outside, gives a sharp line to the profile, rising from the broadside to the gunwale. From the inside, on the other hand, they enhance the brightness and closeness to the sea. To emphasise this contact, at the stern we find a folding broadside that allows for a bathing platform and also houses the ladder inside.
Azimut Verve 42 – Deck and Interior
In terms of comfort, this is a sporty luxury cruiser. To achieve this, large lounging areas have been created for convivial moments. This 13-metre motor yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests on deck. The convivial area in the stern of this boat is served by a galley and a foldaway table that becomes a lounging area with cushions.
Below deck there is a mid-ship cabin separate from the dinette, equipped with a convertible table that can become an additional double berth. The total number of berths available is therefore four. The head has a separate shower stall.
Azimut Verve 42 – Propulsion
The owner can choose between three Mercury 400 or 450HP outboards. The most powerful option delivers a top speed of 45 knots and a cruising speed of 33 knots.
