Let’s talk a bit about watercraft and small boats. There is a new 6-meter boat coming in 2025 from American Bayliner. Not much is known yet, but we can speculate already. It is scheduled to be launched at the Boot Düsseldorf 2025, from January 18 to 26. It will, therefore, be a real world premiere where we will finally understand what this new small open looks like from a brand that has a very long history in the segment.
What we know about the Bayliner C21
At the moment, it is confirmed that the model will be the successor to the Bayliner VR5 Cuddy, a 6.23 m boat with a full-beam windshield and sundeck on the bow, pontooned, which, as the model’s name, “Cuddy,” says, gives space underneath for a small berth for two people.
What kind of boat will it be? With the available evidence we can say that the C21 could be a similar 21-foot (6.3 m) where the letter C would stand for the Cuddy version, making it a small boat suitable even for short overnight stays and weekend cruises. It will probably be available in both inboard and outboard versions, in keeping with the Bayliner tradition of offering this nontrivial choice, especially for such small hulls, for virtually all of its models.
What to expect from the new 6.5m open cabin cruiser?
Looking at historical precedents, just last season, Bayliner updated the VR5 Bowride, a close relative of the VR5 Cuddy in question, with the similarly sized Bayliner V20, also a bowrider. And this, probably, is the most realistic anticipation of what we can expect from the new C21: a small open cabin cruiser with a more modern and elegant silhouette, lightened in the sides by the lines that distinguished the old VR5. In short, lots of speculation and few certainties. We just have to wait about ten days now to discover the new Bayliner C21.
