We boarded the Beneteau Monte Carlo 52, one of the novelty of the French shipyard designed in the exterior by Nuvolari Lenard and in the interior by Pierangelo Andreani. In the waters of Port Ginesta, Barcelona, we have seen how it is done and how it sails this 16 meters.

Beneteau Monte Carlo 52, into the boat
If you are looking for a comfortable cruising boat, easy to handle and with lots of space inside and outside you are in the right place. With the double Volvo Penta IPS 600 engine of 435 horsepower (total 870 hp) this boat reaches a maximum of about 25 knots with a comfortable cruise around 18-20 knots.
In short, you go slow, but the boat is not born to run. Going on board by the stern you can find a large platform with access to the cockpit. Climbing up the stairs we reach the flybridge where up to 10 people can comfortably stay with the possibility of having a sunbathing area right next to the wheelhouse, so as not to leave the skipper “to himself” while sailing.
At the stern of the fly a double station with refrigerator and a floor where you can also insert a plate to be able to “cook” without going into the living room. A bit ‘unpleasant is the step placed exactly in the middle of the fly, which must be careful when passing. Above the fly you can have both the T-top and the bimini, depending on taste. At the bow, a double reclining sundeck with the inevitable can holders.
Inside
Here we find a central table electrically adjustable so that you have in the same position both a sunbathing area and a dining table with sofa simply by changing the height. By opening a double sliding door you can enter directly into the living room where the master is the large windows that flooding the entire area with light. On the left there is a large fridge with freezer, on the right the kitchen so as to have a quick “communication” between the cockpit and the living room. The second wheelhouse (the first on the flybridge) is located on the right in the middle of the boat near the stairs leading to the three internal cabins of the boat: the VIP bow, the guests just before, as the crow flies under the wheelhouse, and the owner aft. The fil rouge are the large volumes common to all three cabins, which are also particularly bright. In the owner’s cabin there is both a private bathroom and a walk-in closet, but what really amazes is the width with large walkways on both sides. On the bed there is a big “squared” white box, due to the design of the salon.
Navigating
As we said before, the Beneteau Monte Carlo 52 is not a “racing” boat, on the contrary. The maximum speed is 24 knots with a cruise around 20 knots. Powered by a double IPS 600 435 horsepower (total 870 hp) has good maneuverability as we have seen by tightening the curves to the maximum. The boat returns in its wake without going off the track. On the wave the feeling is that of a rigid hull, also due to the weight, almost 15 tons. Discover the full test soon on Motor Boats in the paper version. Subscribe now!
