French boating giant Groupe Beneteau and Vision Marine Technologies are teaming up for an increasingly electrified future. The goal is to equip several models in Groupe Beneteau’s range with the innovative environmentally friendly outboards produced by the American manufacturer. Back in 2021 in Cannes, the French group presented the Excess 15 Hybrid sailing multihull with hybrid propulsion, while earlier this year it was the turn of the Delphia 11 full-electric designed for cruising on lakes and inland waters.

“After the construction and extensive testing of an initial jointly developed prototype in early 2022,” says Erik Stromberg, head of Beneteau Group’s powerboat and motor yacht division. the goal is to bring an all-electric boat and propulsion package to market. Many models in our range are perfectly suited to a 100% electric solution, fully compatible with our other powertrain packages.”

The innovative Vision Marine E-Motion 180hp propulsion system, with a battery capacity of 70kWh, is intended to be a solution for everyday cruising. The initial commercial offering with the Beneteau Group will begin under the FourWinns brand, with deliveries available in spring 2023. The technology will also be introduced on other Groupe Beneteau brands, both in North America and Europe.

“Our high-end technology, adapted to the state-of-the-art automotive market, is the driving force behind our partnership with Groupe Beneteau,” says Xavier Montagne, COO of Vision Marine – The E-Motion propulsion system is not only a high-voltage motor and battery, but also a fully optimized propulsion system designed to increase performance and reduce maintenance. We worked hard with McLaren Engineering and its parent company Linamar Corp. to design a very safe and easy-to-use system. This will change the way consumers go boating.”
