We are presenting to you, day by day, the best ports in Italy in which to stop with your boat. Today we’re in Sardinia: here’s everything you need to know about Marina di Portisco, the gateway to the Costa Smeralda.
Located in the northwest of Sardinia, in the enchanting Gulf of Cugnana, Marina di Portisco is the natural gateway to the Costa Smeralda. Already well sheltered of course, it is then protected by a three-leg breakwater pier and a cranked sub-billow pier with 589 berths up to more than 90 meters on deep water with a high draft.
Marina di Portisco: among the best ports in Italy in 2020
The port
Also in 2020 Marina di Portisco was awarded the Blue Flag, which it has received continuously for 24 years, a true record. An international recognition of excellence in the management of environmental issues, with special reference to the preservation of the marine ecosystem.
It is awarded annually based on strict parameters dictated by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) on the area’s water quality, environmental management, environmental education, services and marina safety.
The coveted Blue Flag award confirms the staff’s concrete commitment, professionalism and sensitivity to sustainable issues and management of the facility, evidenced by the many initiatives undertaken over the years.
These include the use of a Tobago Solaris Aquae reverse osmosis desalinator, which allows the production of 50,000 cubic meters of water/year that meets the Marina’s annual water needs, electric vehicle charging stations, energy savings achieved with new generation lighting, and virtuous management of waste produced with an efficient recycling system, all of which contribute to the reduction of Co2 production.
The plan of Marina di Portisco
In relation to risks from Covid-19, Marina di Portisco shall take all measures in accordance with the regulatory framework for combating and containing the spread of the virus in environments open or not open to the public with a detailed plan of the measures to be taken by employees, boaters and frequenters of the port in any capacity. The plan is available at marinadiportisco.it
Because of its geographic location, the Marina is the arrival and departure point for sailing in the Maddalena Archipelago, as far north as Corsica and along the southwest coast of Sardinia, or for excursions to Gallura. A unique territory, surrounded by numerous islands, among which Tavolara stands out.
