At the nominations of the Best of Boats Award 2019, the prize awarded by the jury of international nautical journalists, in the category “Best for Travel”, ie best boat to travel, on four boats arrived in the final, three are catamarans. Why? Simple, because a Best for Travel boat, according to the Best of Boats jury, is suitable for long-distance travel with all “the skills” to allow a good life on board and face the sea, even when it is more rough. And the catamaran, at the moment, seems to be made specifically for this. But it’s not just the multihull that’s the protagonist of this event.

Catamarans and more, here are the best boats to travel

Bali 4.3 MY – 13.10 m

This 13-metre catamaran is the latest to arrive at Bali Catamarans, part of the Catana group. Extreme cruiser style due to fly with incredible spaces. Below deck you can have 2, 3 or 4 cabins. Modern lines and fine materials make this motor yacht a floating villa on which to travel more than comfortably. There is double access to the flybridge, big enough to organize all the parties you want or just to make you comfortable and relax. The flybridge wheelhouse is fully equipped with a 360° view of where you want to go and what surrounds you.

Fountaine Pajot MY 40 – 12.35 m

The new MY 40 is the latest addition to Fountaine Pajot’s Motor Yacht range and features a very large flybridge and owner’s suite for a boat of this class. Dynamic lines and contemporary design for an elegant and performing catamaran. The great strength of MY 40 is in comfort with bright and spacious interiors. Each volume onboard has been designed to offer a luxurious and practical lifestyle. This catamaran has a full galley and a wheelhouse that opens onto the cockpit; the cabins are spacious and also include a master suite and a flybridge with sun loungers.

Silent Yachts 55 – 16.70 m

Silent 55 is a 16.70-metre catamaran with an almost infinite range (weather permitting). This year at the Cannes Yachting Festival it was presented with a completely revised propulsion, more powerful batteries and engines that double their power, as well as a further reduction of noise on board, already very low without thermal engines. They also have a hybrid engine and are built in carbon. HERE TO FIND INFO AND PRICE

Prestige 590 – 18.7 m

The only single-hull motorboat in this list is the Prestige 590, a boat with a huge quantity of glazed surfaces on the hull and superstructure. From a functional point of view, what strikes is the amount of space available for those who love to stay in the outdoors. Example: The forward sundeck has the same surface area as the Prestige 680. The cockpit seats can become another relaxation space, sunbathing, as well as the sunpad in the large flybridge, located in the front area, which gives the pleasant solution of integrating the wheelhouse in this area. On this deck there is also a kitchen area behind the helmsman’s seat and a dining area. As the yacht design now requires, the main deck is without level changes throughout its entire length. In short, a great boat for traveling.
