Hello, we are here! In Milan, in Via Bernardo Quaranta, 52. Barche a Motore is one of the magazines of the publishing house Panama Editore together with il Journal of Sailing and to Top Yacht Design. And we are a real editorial staff, a team of journalists who every day strive to tell the world of powerboats on the website, on social media and in print. Today we want to tell you a little bit about how we do our work.

Inside the Motor Boats editorial office

The beauty of being a nautical journalist, you will say, is clear: trying out boats and going to boat shows. And that’s true except when it’s pouring rain in October and you’re on a trawler with two meters of wave. There it’s not really “comfortable,” it’s those days where you would gladly stay in port, but that’s part of the game. You can’t always go with flat water, can you? However, this is only a small part of our work!

Our day begins each day with a meeting in the newsroom or on the phone. All it takes is an input, an idea born from chatting among colleagues, an anniversary or a tidbit seen somewhere, and the machine is set in motion. Plus there are insights from our contributors scattered all over Italy (and beyond).

When in doubt, we browse the archives of Boats by Motor(the first issue came out back in 1991) looking for forgotten boats that were to change the world or the origins of a current model.

Twice a week then, on Tuesdays and Fridays at lunchtime, we summarize the best of the news for you in dedicated newsletters. Meanwhile, our Youtube channel is updated with boat trials, innovative accessories and interviews.

While our website, newsletters and videos give you a snapshot of the powerboat world, it is in our bimonthly print and digital edition that you will find in-depth reports, extraordinary original photographs, investigations, and focus on every aspect of our diverse world. There are also in-depth interviews and content you won’t find on our website.

Trust us, it is a good job-which we have been doing passionately since 1991-but it is no small feat.

But we, who are we?

Sailors, sailing instructors, engineers, but mostly journalists. There is even a professor of yacht design history who is also a journalist! We bring together the experience of those who have been in this business for over 40 years with the youthful flair of the new generation. And in fact we range from the paper with the bimonthly issue of Barche a Motore to the website, where we publish articles every day, but also the social and Youtubechannels. We go looking for news, stories whether they are boats, accessories, regulations (see licenses, flags, etc.) or services, personalities and owners who can inspire with their experiences.

Why do we do this?

The goal? Keep the fire of passion for powerboats burning, inform and inspire. If you like how we work and follow us, you can support us with a subscription!

By subscribing to ourprint and digital (in addition to having many exclusive benefits, as we tell you about here) you will help support our commitment to quality independent journalism with diverse viewpoints and perspectives.
