New update to C-Map’s European maps

C-Map receives a major update affecting European maps. Navico Group (Simrad, Lowrance, B&G) mapping adds new coverage for France, including inland waters, as well as high-resolution bathymetry and improved shaded surveys for long stretches of the European coastline.

New C-Map updates are available free of charge to all members who have purchased a card in the past year. Simply download them to your multifunction chartplotter to enhance Discover and Reveal maps, including for Generation X charts. For all other users, chart updates can be purchased separately; you can view and check at

which maps are up-to-date for your area.

What the new C-Map updates include

  • Improved high-resolution bathymetry and shaded surveys in parts of the European coasts, including France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium.
  • Improved inland bathymetry and standard data throughout northern France and the Netherlands, including Canal Rijn, Nieuwe Rijn and others.
  • Improved coastal areas and upgrades to more than 6,303 bridges and 1,100 locks along inland waterways in northern France.
  • Significant improvements at 230 lakes in France (including Lac d’ Orient and Lac D’ Auzon) with new or improved shorelines and new bathymetry.

The South Africa area also receives an update that improves bathymetry and shaded relief.

C-Map product manager Jakob Svensson said he is excited to offer this new update to C-MAP users in Europe and significantly transform their navigation experience.

In addition to these updates, the package also includes standard enhancements, including updated information on marinas and port plans, notices to mariners, the latest ENC data, and paper maps from official sources. Standard updates apply to all papers, including Max, 4D, DISCOVER, REVEAL and X Gen within the EMEA portfolio.
