METS 2020, an acronym of Marine Equipment Trade Show, scheduled from 17-19 November at RAI Amsterdam has been cancellated. A few days after the news of the cancellation of the Cannes Yachting Festival, also METS will be postponed.
Due to the consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic, the event would be too small. Therefore the organizers decided not to do it. So METSTRADE 2020 has been cancellated. The next event will be held on 16-18 November 2021 at RAI Amsterdam.
Cancellation of METS 2020, the largest nautical accessories trade show
METS is the realm of equipment, materials, and systems for the international yachting industry. Organized by RAI Amsterdam in collaboration with ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations) is a trade show dedicated to yacht builders, architects, refit yards, distributors, retailers, wholesalers, captains, marina owners, and marine equipment manufacturers worldwide. Here the best (or the most innovative) nautical accessories from around the world are presented and awarded (click here to see some of them).
Niels Klarenbeek, Director of Maritime METSTRADE commented on the decision: “We have worked with great dedication for a safe and successful METSTRADE. Canceling METSTRADE 2020 was a big blow for my team and for me. Listening to the many voices in the industry, including the Fair Committee, ICOMIA, partners, and stakeholders, this is the only right decision we could make. Our team is working with our partners on several virtual ways to connect the boating industry in these difficult times.
