Candela, among the leading shipyards on the electric boating front, is back in the news with the Candela C-8 DC, a new version of its
best-seller (Candela C-8 DC)
, now open and center console. Same hull and same electric propulsion and foiling, but everything else on board changes, now in an open configuration aimed at maximizing all spaces, offering several lounge areas and optionally a T-Top. Performance? About 57 nautical miles of range and, on foil, 30 knots of top speed.

So the Swedish brand, after its partnership with Polestar (we told you about it here), is back in the spotlight with this new version of its already well-known C-8. A choice that well indicates the direction taken by the shipyard: to “challenge” endothermic propulsion by offering versatile, comfortable and usable boats – but with the lowest possible environmental impact. In fact, the new C-8 CC satisfies so many fronts in the segment, offering versatility that fits well with those looking for a boat for pure fun, fishing, and, of course, on-board comfort. All strictly electric-powered. But let’s take a closer look at what characterizes this new project of the Swede.
Candela C-8 CC Spark Plug – Deck
Hull and propulsion remain unchanged, but the same cannot be said of the deck spaces, now set for a completely different kind of use. Starting from the stern, the layout includes a central double sundeck, complemented in the bow by a pair of settees facing a central coffee table. A space dedicated to conviviality or meals, however, which can be converted, in turn, into an extension of the first sundeck, making an uninterrupted one along the entire length of the cockpit. Alternatively, the forward seat also offers tilting backrests easily accommodating up to 8 people in the forward direction.
In the middle of the boat is the console, served by a pair of ultralight wraparound seats. The control console, forward, conceals the toilet and shower facilities, which are accessible from the forward portion. A T-To with fishing rod holders can also be optionally installed here.
In addition to the console, there is a second convivial space in the bow, complete with facing sofa and seating. For those who prefer water sports and games, Candela offers different holders to be installed in the cockpit, thus providing extra storage as needed.

Propulsion and performance
Coming to performance and propulsion, the on-board systems are equivalent to those of the previous model, thus offering 30 knots of top speed and 57 nautical miles of range at cruising speed. The foiling system is itself unchanged, for efficient and quiet performance. The system’s retractable appendages emerge from the center of the aft cockpit and the sides of the console, respectively, while the propulsion system, the C-Pod (
the world’s most efficient electric motor?
), is housed in the aft foil, providing an always submerged thrust. The price? According to the yard’s indications, about 330,000 euros, excluding tax.
