There are materials that can change the life of our boats. One of these is carbon. But when one thinks of this material, the mind immediately goes to hulls or rudders, and few instead think how this material also dramatically changes accessories. Lighter, stiffer and more durable tools, thus more convenient to carry and more functional. There is a company that has made a construction philosophy out of this concept, it is called Exit Carbon.
Carbon boat accessories: here’s which ones to choose
Exit Carbon, has produced a range of carbon fiber products for sailing and motor yachts: Gangways, rudder wheels, poles for awning system, swim ladders, flagpoles, tender fender. These products are made using carbon fiber fabrics pre-impregnated with epoxy resins and are cured in a high-pressure, high-temperature autoclave. They feature a flawless finish that does not require subsequent grouting or painting. In fact, the products are offered with “exposed carbon” finish as standard, a unique feature in the nautical world. The result is a line of products that are very light, very durable, and have uniform characteristics throughout production.
CARBON LADDERS
A lightweight and customizable carbon ladder system, available in 6 different widths from 3 to 10 steps, also in two parts. The Giotto and Dali lines meet different needs. Dali, lacking grab bars, can tip over onto the stern while sailing. Giotto, with 70-cm-high grab bars, can be disassembled and installed on regular open sterns and over a sickle bar. Two models of grab bars facilitate boarding even for boats that already have a retractable ladder: Mirò, 35 cm high, and Leonardo, 70 cm high, are both removable in seconds.
Helios carbon awning poles
The awning pole system consists of carbon fiber uprights and a set of tumblers for attachment. There is a choice of four diameters (32 mm, 38 mm, 60 mm, 80 mm), and two angles (0° or 6°). Available lengths start from 20 cm up to 230 cm. The awning can be connected with a simple loop or with a Clamcleat® with external or internal line. They are available in their standard finish with UD carbon embellished with a grid pattern, or with a classic twill fabric, or even customized with a color of your choice.
