The Costal Maxi 46 Rada is the latest example of how in the Campania shipyard interpret the large dinghy. The phenomenon of mega rib, which is enjoying renewed success.
Like the other models in the price list Coastal, this 14-metre overall is the result of a combination. On the one hand the will of Raffaele Lettieri, the man who in 2008 started the construction of large tenders and rib stand alone. On the other hand, the studio of Francesco Guida, the engineer often associated with the design of fascinating megayachts.
The upward shift in construction dimensions has not altered the summer and Mediterranean nature of the Costal Maxi 46 Rada. The group consisting of the console, deckhouse and T top is the only element that emerges from the side floats. The entire deck is in fact intended for sunbathing areas, especially with the large aft sun pad, which can also be adjusted to suit the needs of the sofa for the main dining table. Another lounge area that can be transformed into a sunbathing area, at the bow.
The naval architecture requires that floats are always involved in navigation on the Maxi 46 Rada. They therefore provide stability, increasing the beam and thrust of Archimedes upwards.
A choice that differs from what happens in many models of competing shipyards where, however, the pneumatic profiles remain above the waterline and work exclusively as a water reserve in maneuvering or roadstead. The hull is designed to offer top speeds of around 55 knots. The geometry is therefore optimised for sports boat performance.
As a result, the propulsion keeps pace. Costal’s flagship installs outboard motors. The maximum power allowed is 1050 hp. The first package offered, for sale at 370 thousand euros plus VAT, provides for a triple installation of outboard for a total of 900 horses. The water and petrol tanks can be customised in terms of capacity, which is in any case important from the basic version with 1500 litres of full fuel.
