From champagne corks to deck covering
Cork is a very light material; it is in effect wood but is processed to achieve very high strength and lightness characteristics. The classic granular composition that we are used to imagining when we think of cork, for example that ofchampagne corks, has nothing to do with Marine Cork. The processing makes the slab highly uniform, and the granular nature is only visible from very close up. The classic porosity of cork, however, remains, and indeed comes in very handy in terms of grip, which increases even more if Marine Cork gets wet.
You no longer have to worry about stains on the deck
One of the most appreciated features of
MarineCork
is stain resistance, a real nightmare for those with teak on board. A little water is enough to remove liquid stains, at most with detergent for oilier stains. But the real treat is that you can sand it smoothly if the stains are from materials such as paints, the layers underneath are in fact identical to those on top. And if any major damage happens to you, you don’t have to remove the whole cover: you just cut out the damaged piece and replace it, and it won’t even be noticeable.
