Not only boats at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which ended yesterday, but also engines. Everything is ready for the new CXO 300, the most powerful diesel outboard from Cox Powertrain which will soon officially go into production. First deliveries are expected by the end of 2019.
CXO300, the diesel outboard
Delivering 300hp at the propeller, the twin turbo CXO300 is the world’s highest-powered diesel outboard engine. Designed specifically for marine applications, the engine is based on proven 4-stroke V8 architecture technology. According to initial tests, these engines should have low vibration, low operating noise and above all good torque. However, you will need to see the actual applications and performance because compared to “normal” outboard engines with the same power this engine weighs 380 kg , over 100 kg more than the average. The first important dry maintenance interval for the engine will be 1000 hours. Customers will be supported by a dedicated line of 35 marine diesel specialists worldwide, covering 100 countries.
Cox Diesel
With a background in Formula 1 racing, the team of engineers at Cox wants to achieve the creation of a powerful engine with the qualities of an outboard and the performance and efficiency of a diesel inboard engine. To really know it and understand more about it, all you have to do is wait and try it “physically” in its applications.
