Dinghy or no dinghy? The D-shaped closed-cell “tubular” is a trend that has seen several new brands enter the field in the recent period. The latest is Magazzù, with a design that was, in fact, in the air for quite some time. It is called the MX 16 and is a rather unique unit. A 16.7-meter designed to be experienced outdoors, but with surprising interiors especially if you look at the profile and line. Close to the maxi-rib category, it is in fact a boat in its own right. We climbed aboard to get to know it more closely.
Magazzù MX 16
The MX 16 is the outboard version of the M16, designed instead for IPS propulsion. We are talking about two totally different hulls. In this case MX-16, the live-work is equipped with two redans. The model we went on was powered by three 600-horsepower Mercury Verado V12s. Peculiar, though successful, was the choice to make them covered, under the sundeck, without giving up the aft platform. The absence of an engine room, precisely given the outboard motorization, allowed for three cabins, one of which had a gull-wing opening aft with access from the sundeck.
