“Dinghy,” “Gozzo,” “Boat,” “Outboard motor.” They are, in order, the most searched nautical words on Subito.it.
Data held on the buying and selling platform (8 million unique monthly users) reveal a steady growth in Italians’ interest in boating. In particular, Subito’s Boating category recorded nearly 30 million searches in the first 8 months of 2018, with an average of more than 800,000 visits per week, and a peak of more than 1,300,000 in the weeks of August.
In fact, in recent years, the role of boating on Subito has become more and more established, growing to around 50,000 online listings every day, with more and more individuals and professionals turning to the platform to sell and buy boats and accessories. On the one hand, individuals, aware that they can connect with other enthusiasts like themselves: in the first months of 2018, 61,500 people posted at least one ad.
On the other, professionals, who are increasingly relying on means beyond traditional in-store sales and who see the advent of digital as an opportunity to expand their reach. In 2018, 200 companies are permanently publishing their offers on the portal.
To numerous and very different sellers corresponds a varied stock full of surprises: in fact, within it, you can find solutions for every kind of budget, from more than 800 offers of boats above 100,000 euros to the cheapest under 10,000 euros (almost 20,000), small bargains or boats for renovation within everyone’s reach. Regarding the type of boats, in the 50,000 ads you can find Motor boat (40%), Sail boat (9%), Inflatable boat (13%), Watercraft (2%), Accessories (26%).
Moving on to analyze what Italians search for on Subito, we find that in the first place of the top 5 is Dinghy followed by Boat, Gozzo, Outboard Engine and finally Sailboat. In the ranking of those who go up and those who go down, however, we see an increase in searches for accessories such as awning (up 28 percent), gps (up 8 percent), and depth sounder (up 4 percent), while those for yatch (down 15 percent), berth (down 13 percent), and licensed fishing boats (down 3 percent) drop. Finally, the top five most searched brands include Yamaha, Ranieri, Saver, Sessa, and Boston.
