It’s catamaran-mania now!
From large cruising multihulls to weekender, more compact boats often powered outboard.
The new Dracan 42 is in the latter category.
Where are the outboards?
Hidden, under the aft sundeck. Here is the 12.6-meter day catamaran reaching the 30 knots and has Three distinct layouts: for 2, 3 or 4 cabins.

Dracan 42

Where did this catamaran come from?
From Poland, and building it is a monstrous factory: Model-Art.
In 20 years this shipyard has made
over 10,000 hulls for various Scandinavian brands, but not only.
Dracan is the brand with which Model-Art decided to set out on its own: a 42-foot weekend cat.
Immediately striking is its sporty, rather racy styling compared to the multihulls we usually see.

The deck of this 12-meter

What does the Dracan 42 look like?
It has a 4.85-meter beam at its widest point and about 12.6 meters of overall length.
With these numbers, there is no shortage of space on board.
Another characteristic feature are the high freeboards that then descend to the stern.
Added to these is a deck that takes advantage of the full extent of the two hulls, virtually uniting them from bow to stern into a single surface.

42On this platform, Dracan thus builds a catamaran that really looks at desirable comforts for a day at sea (or more than one) by offering two large aft sundecks facing the beach area.
Amidships, however, are two settees.
Here, protected by the hard top, are the galley and bar top, one on each side, leaving a central space directed forward toward the exteriors, accessed through the windshield.

In the bow, almost bow-rider style, there is a lounge recessed into the deck and surrounded, instead, by a flush-floor deck.
A solution that thus takes advantage of the space available between the two hulls, providing a protected convivial space even while underway.

The catamaran with 4 cabins

Looking at interior volumes, Dracan Marine offers three distinct layout options.
The standard version is the Voyage, which offers three total cabins: an owner’s cabin with private toilet in one hull, and two twin doubles in the second hull, with shared bathrooms.
The Supreme variant has only two cabins and thus offers two twin owner’s cabins, one in each hull, and private bathrooms.
The last, Holiday version, on the other hand, capable of offering four cabins total, or two doubles per hull, with shared bathrooms.

Dracan 42 – The 12-meter outboard catamaran

Finally, coming to the “engine room” front, the Dracan 42 is available with two distinct outboard engines.
In the first case, a pair of Mercury V10 350-horsepower, optionally, however, replaceable with a pair of Mercury V10 400 hp.
For fuel there are two fuel tanks with 500 liters of fuel each.
In terms of top speed, the catamaran can exceed 30 knots.

Dracan 42 – Price

The price of the current version (Sport Top) is about 521,430 euros, excluding the engine.
There are also two additional versions, a Hard-Top and a Fly-Top variant, which we will see in the future.
