If you want to buy an electric motor, now is the right time. After much anticipation, the Decree establishing a fund of 3 million to promote the replacement and simultaneous scrapping of endothermic propulsion engines powered by fossil fuels with electric motors and their battery packs has finally been adopted. Individuals and companies owning units used for recreational boating, commercial purposes or social boating will be eligible for these facilities.

Ecobonus boat: for which engines it applies

The electric motors that can be purchased will be those between 0.5 and 12 Kw of the outboard type (if placed in the stern), inboard and inboard-outboard or “POD” type, as long as they are propulsion. Outboards with an integrated battery can count up to โ‚ฌ2,000 in subsidies, while all those with an external battery, regardless of type, can count up to โ‚ฌ10,000. Individuals can apply for the facilitation for up to two engines, up to a total contribution of โ‚ฌ8,000, while companies can apply for the purchase of multiple engines, up to a maximum amount of โ‚ฌ50,000. The facilitation is granted in the form of a non-repayable contribution and to the maximum extent of 50 percent of eligible expenses, which must be documented with the purchase invoice and the statement, issued by the electric motor dealer, certifying that the endothermic motor to be scrapped has been collected, identified by make, model and serial number and the relevant Power Declaration, where applicable.

When should it be requested?

Requests will be fulfilled on the basis of the chronological order of submission of applications, the terms and conditions of which will be established by a subsequent provision. The Ministry, following the disbursement of the facilitation, will proceed to conduct spot checks in order to verify the truthfulness of the statements made in the application.
