At the recent German kermesse, the Boot DĂĽsseldorf, Pardo Yachts has announced the expansion of its Endurance range (which already includes theEndurance 60), with the arrival of a new model, conceived and designed with a focus on long cruise and low-impact performance: it is the new Pardo Endurance 72, the launch of which is scheduled for the spring 2024.
Pardo Endurance 72
At 22 meters long and more than 5 meters wide, the newcomer will flank its younger sibling Endurance 60 and, building on the latter’s success, will carry on its philosophy, offering yet unprecedented comfort, exhilarating performance, and predispositions aimed at sustainability. The result, the shipyard announced at the world premiere, will be a yacht built around the needs of individual owners to experience long periods in maximum comfort, in both displacement and planing modes, making the most of the space available on board. But let’s take a closer look at what the project looks like as of today.
Pardo Endurance 72 – Exterior
Recovering the stylistic features and family feeling of its predecessor 60′, the new Endurance 72 features contemporary lines, with a dead-work with important slants, made dynamic by the alternating arrangement of the windows, which lighten its overall volume. The upturned prow, like the soaring and then descending lines of the broadside, in turn contribute to the dynamism of the hull, which concludes aft with two folding side decks to the aft platform, flush with the water. The main living volume then, almost completely glazed and projected toward the bow, concludes the design, thus recovering the look of the smaller model, pleasingly placing this 72-footer in a now thoroughly recognizable segment.
In terms of outdoor spaces, the obviously walkaround deck design gives ample room for movement to guests, who thus possess as many as three main open areas to enjoy. Starting from the stern, we first find a swim platform on the water, and immediately move to the cockpit area. Indeed, here we find a large sundeck cantilevered toward the stern, while, between this and the salon, we find a convivial area with table and seating. The real gem of this area, however, is the double folding broadside, which allows for extra space throughout the area when not under sail.
In the cockpit there is also access to the Fly, an open space of no less than 27 square meters protected and shaded by a T-top with a roof with adjustable slats, an ideal feature for enjoying it in different conditions. Here we find, in addition to the ever-present wheelhouse, an entire area consisting of sofas, sundecks, tables and seating. Everything necessary in short to fully enjoy one’s time spent at sea. Lots of attention to comfort is also placed, finally, in the bow, where there is a lounge area consisting of no less than three sofas, a table and an XL sundeck.
Pardo Endurance 72 – Interior
Conceived for long-range sailing, the Endurance 72 also reflects all its promises of comfort and convenience in its interior planning and design. Conceived by Burdissocapponi Yacht Design with two possible layouts, the interiors are thus also adaptable to the different needs of the owner pool, offering different accommodations and accommodation capacities.
In an early version, the Galley Up, the galley is located on the main deck, providing space for as many as 5 bathrooms and 4 cabins on the lower deck – 8 beds total, divided into two doubles and two twins. In the second variant, however, Galley Down, we have the galley placed on the lower deck, increasing the space in the salon, but reducing the number of cabins (one double and two twins) to 3 and the number of bathrooms to 4.
The standard layout then, Galley Up, has the galley located aft of the salon, on the main deck, which then consists of a dining area located in front of it, facing the deck that can be lowered via a side door. Just forward, a two sofas, including one with a chaise longue, make up the central lounge area, complete with television.
Beyond, on the bridge, we find the wheelhouse and control seat, integrated around a large drawer unit. In the case of the Galley Down, we find on the main deck an additional convivial area composed of freestanding furniture. Instead, the galley is placed below deck, a real novelty of the collaboration with Burdissocapponi Yacht Design, thus creating a service area directly connected to the crew quarters and giving a salon completely open to the side terraces.
On the lower deck we find in addition to the full-beam double master stateroom, the bathrooms and the entire sleeping area, complete or not with kitchen, depending on the layout chosen. Every space is soundproofed.
Propulsion and Performance
Shifting the focus to motorization and performance, the Pardo Endurance 72 features a particularly advanced displacement and planing hull optimized for IPS propulsion.
The warped hull has a progressively reduced deadrise angle on the longitudinal fore-aft, thus providing greater dynamic stability in planing conditions with formed seas, also aided by the relatively forward center of gravity, which helps reduce the energy dissipated in wake when in displacement.
In terms of thrust, there are 3 different engines: in standard version, the Endurance 72 provides two Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1050s, however, optionally replaceable with IPS 1200 or IPS 1350. A hybrid engine is also among the options, as the engine room is already prepared for its adoption.
Finally, with the Endurance 72, Pardo Yachts also introduces a new parameter, Eco-Speed, which is the calculated speed for which optimum trim and greater on-board comfort are achieved in parallel with lower fuel consumption.
