The world’s first builder of recreational catamarans, the French shipyard Fountaine Pajot has nearly fifty years of experience in the marine world that still enables it to create top-notch powerboats that are both innovative and luxurious, sustainable and spacious. Then, thanks to the knowledge handed down by founder Jean-François Fountaine and continued today with ownership of the legendary shipyard remaining in the family-that sailing is a matter of pleasure, the living space both inside and outside of the motor catamarans made is exceptional, but at the same time all Fountaine Pajot multihulls have top safety levels and the POWER 67 is the ultimate expression of this. The shipyard proves itself on the cutting edge by launching the first hydrogen-powered catamaran. It all starts from a comprehensive and unique study of the world of multihulls that makes a brand like Fountaine Pajot inimitable at the nautical level: it starts from the knowledge that catamarans that are more energy efficient than monohulls due to their shape and lightness. They have a lower wetted surface area than monohulls, meaning less friction and fuel consumption. Not only that, the motor catamaran produces less CO2 than the motor monohull and can be much more easily equipped with solar panels and lithium batteries with which to reduce the energy consumption provided by the generator/ alternator, which using fossil fuels, produces greenhouse gases. As for thrusters, catamarans have one per hull, installed in watertight engine rooms, thus increasing reliability and safety on the open sea. In the event of failure of one of the engines, the second one allows smooth sailing to continue. Not to mention that due to reduced friction, the engines of a catamaran are lighter, more efficient, and require less maintenance than the monohull.
ADVENTURES IN SAFETY
Perfect boat model for those who seek joy at sea during comfortable and fun cruising vacations: it can navigate shallow waters thanks to its shallow draft, and reach otherwise inaccessible anchorage areas, hidden and unexplored bays, where they can enjoy wild and lonely landscapes. This feature is also characteristic of one of the top models in Fountaine Pajot’s range of motor multihulls, the Power 67. A spectacular boat in terms of space and comfort, it is also inspired by its sailing “sister” Alegria 67: witness the large front cockpit, which, with direct access from the master cabin, is one of its best functional features. At over 60 square meters, this cockpit is comparable to the spaces found on monohulls over 30 meters in length. Again due to its spaciousness, the front cockpit becomes a versatile and multifunctional area that can be used for a variety of activities in the owner’s private area: sunbathing, practicing yoga or simply socializing with friends and family. In addition, this space provides an incredible panoramic view of the sea during cruises.
In the same way, combining comfort and space, the stern is designed: here, for relaxing in the sun on the open sea in absolute comfort and safety, flush with the water, there is in fact a spacious platform, which is extremely functional-thanks to its 450 kg capacity for the tender-but is also comfortable and sought after. Also aft then the rear cockpit of the Power 67, through the complete opening of the door, creates a total connection with the main salon. Its comfortable sofas are the ideal setting to sip a drink at cocktail hour or relax during sailing times. It is the perfect venue for any occasion, with space to seat more than 30 people between the rear cockpit and the interior table. Instead, for the few, but equally unique, is the experience of soaking in the Fountaine Pajot Power 67’s Jacuzzi pool located on the bow. Safe and comfortable even for the elderly and children, it is perfectly integrated into the design of the catamaran and offers an extraordinary view of the sea. Powered by two 485hp Volvo D6 Engines, the Power 67 develops a top speed of more than 20 knots with a consumption of 180 liters per hour, or cruise with a transfer speed of 10-11 knots at 30 liters per hour, moving to a cruising speed of 15 knots at 100120 liters per hour depending on sea conditions. Its simplicity and economy in operation is comparable to that of a sailing catamaran of the same size, and nearly 70 percent less than a monohull of the same length.
