The catamaran that turns into a superyacht
Comfortable and spacious, the Power 80 Fountaine Pajot is the motor multihull that makes sailing even easier and greener
The Fountaine Pajot shipyard was founded in 1976 by two friends Jean-François Fountaine and Yves Pajot. Initially, the shipyard focused on the production of sailing catamarans, and then introduced, in 1998 a full 25 years ago, the first motor catamaran: the Maryland 37. Fountaine Pajot motor catamarans are designed for maximum stability, comfort and performance. Due to their amplitude, catamarans are more stable than monohulls and allow safer, more comfortable and environmentally sustainable sailing, even in rough sea conditions, without noisy, energy-intensive stabilizers. The motor catamaran with two parallel hulls, which make its displacement in the water small, causes fewer waves and turbulence: this limits environmental impact and reduces noise and vibration compared to traditional monohulls. Due to its efficiency and lower environmental impact, the Fountaine Pajot company has set a goal with its Odyssea 2024 business plan to be a pioneer in the environmental transition of the marine industry. Its intent is to produce ideally zero-emission cruising boats by 2030.
SPACE FOR ALL TASTES
To this green philosophy the shipyard combines the constant search for comfort and spaciousness on board. Motor catamarans have wide decks joining both hulls, more cabins and bathrooms than any monohull of the same length: thus offering greater comfort and space for passengers on board, making this vessel ideal for any type of itinerary or sea voyage. Definitely more spacious than monohulls, they also provide large covered areas that allow sailing protected from direct sunlight exposure. Fountaine Pajot knows very well that every owner is unique and therefore designs its boats to meet individual needs. From long cruises to comfortable long-shore family vacations, Fountaine Pajot ensures that every detail is included in the design and construction of its catamarans to provide solutions that really make a difference at sea. Not to mention that each year the shipyard updates its range so that its catamarans represent the pinnacle of modern design and incorporate the latest technologies in the industry.
DIMENSIONS THAT MATTER – POWER 80
The latest motor catamaran model launched by Fountaine Pajot, the Power 80 has the same dimensions, namely 23.98 meters long and 11.09 meters wide, to its sailing counterpart, the Thira 80, thus becoming the largest model in the shipyard’s range. Designed by the historic French firm Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design, the Power 80 offers large interior and exterior spaces. Its very clean and contemporary design is open to the sea with two beautiful side terraces, like two large wings, creating different lounge areas for an incredible number of guests, or a truly unique area with privacy. Speaking of conveniences in a big way, in addition to the aft cockpit that together with the movable platform creates a beautiful beach club dedicated to aquatic entertainment, there is a very convenient jet ski garage to be launched through the swim platform itself. Then there is a very elegant flybridge with which the Power 80 also gives its owner a huge foredeck to devote to relaxation, with a perfectly integrated bar and Jacuzzi. It is accessed directly from the inner hall through the very convenient front door, or from the side walkways. Its nearly 9kw of solar panels coupled with 45kw of lithium batteries allow it to stay at anchor in full energy autonomy! In the standard version, the galley is located in the port hull, along with the crew dining area, and 3 crew cabins totaling over 37sqm. The fourth crew cabin is also carved out of the port hull, but at the front. The living room has two large windows to maintain contact with the sea, has two sofas with a central tea table. There are versions: from 4 cabins to 6 double cabins. (+ 4 crew). All with private bathrooms. The best-selling layout is 4 cabins with a nearly 35sqm Master cabin and a nearly 20sqm VIP cabin that uses almost the entire 24-meter length of the hull! The Fountaine Pajot Power 80 offers better visibility than monohulls, allowing those at the helm to better control everything around the hull. The better control over sailing direction with the two engines at nearly 10 meters is also another element that helps reduce pollutant emissions. The cruising speed is about between 10 and 15 knots, with very low fuel consumption, while the maximum speed will be limited to around 20 knots. Buying a motor catamaran is certainly an ethical, smart, clever, environmentally sustainable choice that offers numerous benefits for the future of the planet and generations to come, but also great qualities of comfort and luxury to the owner. THE POWER 80 is the motoryacht of the future.
