Harken, the value of experience
Peter and Olaf Harken more than 50 years ago founded Harken in the Great Lakes region of Wisconsin. Since then it has grown and from a small workshop born “in the backyard” it has become an international reality present all over the world. Harken products are a “must” in events such as the America’s Cup, Ocean Race, Vendée Globe, Olympics the Maxi and TP52 circuits, and in the vast majority of one-design classes.
Harken blocks, rails, winches, furlers, and hydraulic systems are now aboard every kind of boat-from the smallest drift to the largest megayacht. From custom ones, to those made in large series.
Harken Inc. is headquartered in Pewaukee, Wisconsin where there is also one of its two production units; the second is in Limido Comasco, a few miles from Como. In the U.S. is concentrated the manufacture of deck equipment, in the second, Harken Italy, that of winches.
Harken into the future
With a keen eye toward the future, Harken has built modern and efficient factories resulting in the assumption not only of ownership but also of production responsibility and quality control. By utilizing sophisticated equipment and highly trained technical staff, optimizing workflows, and taking advantage of the constant influx of innovative ideas coming from its engineers, Harken has consistently exhibited steady growth in the marketplace, the ability to adapt positively to changing economic conditions.
