Are you looking for a piece of nautical history to be refitted? Surfing the web we came across this boat, just put on sale, with a truly unique story. Anahita V is the name of the 1952 boat that was found while lying abandoned in a Ferguson Marine depot in Glasgow, Scotland. Now it has been put on sale by Mark Cameron Yachts for 95,000 pounds, about 100,000 euros.
Anahita V, first Feadship superyacht for sale
Feadship is a Dutch shipyard famous worldwide as one of the leading manufacturers of large motor yachts (and here are the 25 largest in the world). In 1952, a few years after the foundation, Feadship launched Anahita V. At that time it was the largest boat ever built by the shipyard as well as being the first imported by the company to the USA. This yacht helped to define the shipyard’s vocation: to become one of the most famous and appreciated superyacht builders.
Today the flagships of Feadship are two: Madame Gu and Moonrise, both 99 meters superyachts.
Back to Anahita. After the launch in 1952, it was known by many names: Mossie, Yankee, Clipper III, Beau Geste, Inspiration and La Vie Vite. In the United States, she lived on both coasts, from the eastern one to California. Often she also went back and forth between Mexico and San Diego, until she was auctioned off in the 1980s after having been seized by U.S. authorities for a long time. The reason? “Undeclared imports”. Still some changes of the owner before ending up forgotten in Glasgow.
Anahita V is for sale
The boat is for sale at £95,000 because it needs very thorough restoration work. The boat needs a lot oof work, as the sellers say:
“We understand that the vessel is not presently in a condition which will allow her immediate relaunching, recommissioning or operation of her systems. The vessel is offered for sale ‘as she now lies’ and her new owner will need to remove her from her current location immediately following closure of the sale.”“We understand that the vessel is not presently in a condition which will allow her immediate relaunching, recommissioning or operation of her systems.
In short, it is not a suitable boat for those looking for something ready to use (for that take a look at our ads section). We know very well, however, that the nautical world is also made by many owners who fall in love at first sight of a boat also for the story that he brings with him, and then devote heart and soul to its rebirth. Who knows if this is not the case of Anahita V as well.
