On a cruise, it is wonderful to eat on a boat. Just think, now there is even a service, Foodinghy, for onboard delivery if you don’t feel like cooking!
But it is just as nice to go ashore for a little dinner (strictly seafood), in a typical trattoria or “pieds dans l’eau” restaurant. We reveal five restaurants in Tyrrhenian that we have personally tested where, we are sure, you will enjoy an unforgettable evening. Do you also have places to recommend? Don’t be shy, point them out to us with a nice comment telling us why they are unmissable!
FIVE SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS IN ITALY
Trattoria Ugo in Genoa – Dizzying anchovies!
If you want to taste the best stuffed fried anchovies in Liguria, you’ll want to book a table at the historic Trattoria Ugo, in the carruggi of Genoa’s historic center since 1969. An explosion of sea, marjoram and a very secret but knockout filling. The classic cod fritters, Ugo-style cuttlefish with eggplant, and black and white gnocchetti with fish sauce are excellent.
With a half liter of house wine (water is included in the cover charge), you leave nice and full after spending 25 euros. Definitely worth trying (and if you want, you can buy their pesto, it’s fantastic!).
Trattoria Ugo, 86 Via dei Giustiniani, Genoa, tel. 010 2469302
The Golden Sail in Macinaggio (Corsica) – The home of the lobster
Eating fish and lobster in Macinaggio in northern Corsica means going to La Vela d’Oro. Since 1973 it has been the lair of gourmand sailors in search of the best lobster and fish in the Mediterranean.
Located in an alley behind the harbor, simple venue with a scenic tank crammed with lobsters. Definitely try the grilled one cooked over charcoal and the octopus salad.
La Vela d’Oro, on the harbor, Macinaggio (Corsica), Tel. +33 0495354246
At the Usual Place in Trapani – Triumph of bluefish!
St. Julian’s beautiful beach is just a stone’s throw away, so after lunch a dip will refresh you. Al Solito Posto trattoria is a guaranteed address. Of course, fish is the protagonist: we, who adore oily fish, tasted the delicious sardine pie (side photo) as well as the fish balls with caper cream.
Triumphant the classic cous-cous alla Trapanese and, to finish, a well-made and not-too-sweet cannoli. Excellent Sicilian wines, we had an exquisite Inzolia.

Le Petrelle in Ischia – Mamma mia what a linguine!
We are on the island of Ischia in the enchanting Bay of Maronti. A few meters from the sea is the beach bar restaurant Le Petrelle. Obviously great location to enjoy the seafood appetizers: many, tasty, classic and innaovati.
Try as a first course the linguine with lemons and shrimp or those with mussels, followed by an excellent eggplant parmigiana and the light and tender fried squid that melts in your mouth. The catch is chosen in the four ways: grill, oven, fried, aquapazza. Good choice of fine shellfish (lobster, scampi). To finish as a traditional dessert, “la caprese”.

The Hedgehog on Capri – The name says it all
If you are a lover of true seafood flavors, you must try the spaghetti alla chitarra with urchins from the “pieds dans l’eau” restaurant Il Riccio, next to the Grotta Azzurra on Capri, which has been awarded a Michelin star since 2013.
Also not to be missed, among the offerings of chefs Migliaccio and Elefante, is the Plateau Royal of seafood crudités, consisting of: truffles, “Tarbouriech” oysters, “Peter Pan” oysters, urchins, clams, langoustines, salmon, tuna, amberjack, cuttlefish and shrimp, is like a (memorable) swim in the taste of the Mediterranean. It is obviously worth booking well in advance.
