The Fjord 38 Xpress is the latest proposal from the shipyard Fjord, a very important company in the reborn of the category of walkarounds. The brand, now part of the Hanse group, was among the first to offer this type of boat revised in a current key.
Fjord 38, now with outboards
Until now, however, it had never combined form with one of the other strengths of recent open boats: outboard motorisation. Now the gap is filled with the arrival of this model. This is the evolution of the recent Fjord 36 Open. Let’s go in order. With the outboards, the engine room is no longer needed. This allows you to place a sunbathing area at the stern or something else with various versions of deck. The most versatile is the one that includes the aft dinette for four or six people, which can be transformed into a sundeck. In this case, since there is space to eat comfortably seated, it also makes sense to choose the version with the kitchen behind the driver’s seat, under the T-Top, that is one of the main characteristics of the walkaround. The movement of the engines, of course, also gives an enormous locker under the cockpit, accessible in this case by lifting the two aft seats.
Fjord Xpress 38, outboard mon amour
For the propulsion there are two options available. A pair of outboards of 300 or 350 horsepower. The first proposal from the shipyard is with a pair of Mercury Verado. Putting a more powerful engine to work, this boat can break the wall of 40 knots easily and safely. Fjord Xpress 38 is affordable for everyone because in navigation the boat is stable and manageable. The hull gives you the possibility to reduce the draught to just 30 centimeters and has been designed to anchor (where possible and in accordance with local regulations) even close to the beach, if not to beach tout court.
Below deck it keeps its daycruiser soul, without denying a bed to the owner who wants to stay one night under the starry sky. Thus, a double cabin is available at the far end of the bow, equipped with a toilet room.
