Fjord 38 Xpress, the open with outboards. Fjord is one of the shipyards that have contributed most to the success of the walkaround category. The brand, part of the Hanse group, was among the first to propose this type of boat, now revisited in a modern way.

So far, however, it had never combined it with one of the other strengths of recent open boats: outboard propulsion. Now, the gap has been filled with the launch of the new Fjord 38 Xpress. It’s an evolution of the recent Fjord 36 Open which, thanks to the translation of the propulsion from the engine room to the rear end of the stern platform, can change the cockpit layout and the boat usability. But let’s proceed with order.
The disappearance of the engine room no longer obliges to place a sundeck in the stern. As a result, this area offers various deck configurations. The most versatile one includes an aft dinette for 4-6 people that can be converted into a sun pad. In this case, thanks to the ample space available, the owner can opt for a version equipped with a galley positioned just next to the pilot seat and under the T-Top which, together with the frameless windscreen, characterize the lines of the Fjord 38 Xpress. The displacement of the engines, of course, also gives a huge storage compartment under the cockpit, accessible in this case by lifting the two stern seat
Outboard mon amour
As for the propulsion, there are two options available. Two engines of 300 or 350 HP each. The first option is a couple of Mercury Verado engines which are expected to deliver a top speed of 40 knots without compromising the maneuverability and the stability of the hull. The latter thanks to the possibility of reducing the draft to just 30 cm, is designed to drop the anchor (where possible and respecting the local rules) even close to the beach.
Moreover, the outboard version is more advantageous in terms of boat management and maintenance. Below deck, the Fjord 38 Xpress keeps her daycruiser soul while offering the possibility to spend a night at the anchor. The boat, indeed, is equipped with a master cabin and a toilet.
