Foilone is the “go-kart” of the sea (4.8 meters) worth over 100 thousand euros

THE PERFECT GIFT!

Give or treat yourself to a subscription to Boats in Motion print + digital and for only 39 euros a year you get the magazine at home plus read it on your PC, smartphone and tablet. With a sea of advantages.

An all-electric boat that you can’t use for practically anything other than a flat water ride. It has no sundeck, no cabin. In short, lots of form and little function. Can we say it’s a go-kart of the sea? Probably from the shipyard they would not appreciate it, however, that is the impression. Electric, foiling, state-of-the-art, it has even been nominated as “foiling motor boat of the year” in 2025. The price? Including the rapid loader, over 120,000 Euro. Not bad for a vehicle of not even 5 meters!

Foil Pegasus: ready for takeoff!

The material makes the craft lightweight and, as a result, allows it to hurtle over the water like a fighter jet for adrenaline-fueled sailing. In fact, the design inspiration for Pegasus comes from airplanes of decades past, with their rounded contours and vent-like mouth. The electric hydrofoil boat is also equipped with safety features to protect the boater while on the water, including an automatic shutdown, a navigation system, a paddle and a water-emptying bucket. Foilone adds two hydrofoils to the electric boat, raising it above the surface of the water. It is a technology similar to airplane wings, reducing drag and increasing sailing speed-that’s why Pegasus is an appropriate name. Foilone is also inspired by the vintage aerodynamics of 1950s Formula 1 cars for its exterior design, especially in the shape of the single-seat “body”: there is only room for one passenger on board.

What does Pegasus look like?

Pegasus, powered by a 14.9 kW motor, can reach a maximum speed of 30 knots and maintain a cruising range of 18 to 22 knots; on a single charge the boat can sail for about two hours, and when it needs to be recharged, the battery can go from zero to 100 percent in less than two hours. Foilone still recommends purchasing the two-battery option if you want to sail without interruption due to range; the 48V batteries are manufactured by Torqeedo, known for its reliability and innovation. The battery pack is located in the front, in a locker that can also be used as a storage compartment for small personal effects.

Thanks to the carbon fiber, the boat is light enough to be transported on a trailer or a larger boat as a tender or toy. The Finnish manufacturer says that carrying heavy objects on board can affect the balance and flight dynamics of the hydrofoil electric boat, so it is preferable to carry only what is needed while sailing (maximum 100 kg).

The cockpit of Pegasus

There is no distinction between novice and experienced boaters, as Pegasus is designed with intuitive controls; as the team states, “it is as easy to use as riding a bicycle.”

Customers can customize the boat by choosing the color, seat, and additional accessories.

The price? Including the rapid loader, over 120,000 Euro.
