Fishing from a boat is a passion that can unite even the most diverse people. And even though there is often getting your hands dirty and more, the appeal of this discipline has admirers in every stratum of society. Even soccer players cannot resist the magic of a day at sea. From “Chino” Recoba to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, there are many legends of the soccer world who are passionate about fishing from the boat. Here are four of the most famous ones and some amusing anecdotes.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Oceanic

For one born in Funchal, the main city on the island of Madeira, in the middle of the Atlantic, the sea can only be a very strong draw. So here is one of the most successful soccer players ever, Cristiano Ronaldo, happily and carefree fishing aboard a motor boat with a rod in his hand.

Alvaro “Chino” Recoba and the legend of the final

There is a legend around the Uruguayan phenom, who is passionate about fishing, dating back to when he was still very young. During a rather important national tournament in Uruguay, Alvaro managed to drag his team all the way to the final. When the day of the decisive game comes, however, “Chino” is not there. He is out in the boat fishing with his brother. Myth also has it that he then managed to arrive in time for the second half giving his people the victory. True or not, it is not known. The one thing there is no doubt about is his passion for boat fishing.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the world’s best fisherman

At least according to Zlatan, who can be better than him at anything? The answer is obvious, none. Among the Swedish legend’s passions, boat trips for fishing are nothing new. Judging from the photos and videos he posts, it seems that he does not lack talent even with a fishing pole in his hand.

Paul “Filch” Gascoigne The pool fisherman

Fishing is one of his family’s passions, so much so that when he arrived at Tottenham he even got himself a fishing kit (in addition to a house, two Mercedes, and, of course, his salary). Passionate fisherman then, although what made history was a video posted by him on social in which the former Biancocelesti champion is filmed poolside fishing, saying, “I’ve been here for three f***** days and I haven’t caught a f***ing thing.”
