FPT Industrial is launching at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 an entire innovative line, the Compact Parallel Hybrid , a parallel series of hybrid-electric propulsion systems for marine mobility. Developed in collaboration with Vulkan Hybrid Architect, the company is thus also active in the areas of sustainable mobility in boating, with an entire system dedicated to both the recreational and commercial worlds.
Compact Parallel Hybrid, hybrid-electric propulsion for boats
The promise of the new system? Exceptional performance, broad levels of flexibility and efficiency, and a design designed to minimize maintenance and cost. All while improving both fuel consumption and emissions. Compact Parallel Hybrid
Compact Parallel Hybrid – the system and capacity ranges.
But what exactly does the system consist of? Well, the Compact Parallel Hybrid is mainly a Parallel hybrid-electric propulsion system. Basically, offered in a‘wide variety of solutions’ combining FPT diesel engines (125 Kw to 735 Kw) with proportionate electric motors and battery-packs, it is a hybrid power unit system that enables specific requirements and needs to be achieved, moving in power ranges from 100 to 1000 equivalent horsepower, whether these are for the commercial or recreational sector.
So what results from this collaboration between FPT Industrial and Vulkan Hybrid Architect is. a hybrid propulsion system designed to maximize performance while minimizing and reducing both costs, fuel consumption and environmental impacts. A solution that not only enables a more sustainable navigation, but even allows all-electric modes, thus providing access to otherwise prohibited protected areas.FPT Industrial – integrated control and monitoring system
Compact Parallel Hybrid – Modes and Benefits
In fact, the system developed by FPT Industriale and Vulkan Hybrid Architect has four main modes : E-Sailing mode , for zero emissions and low speeds; Diesel mode , where electric and diesel work in sync; Generator mode, where the diesel engine becomes only a power producer for the propulsion of the electric; Boost mode, where collaboration between the parties aims at performance. Overall, a system that not only involves reduced environmental impacts e lower costs for the users, but It also diversifies the ranges of possibilities and performance, raising the bar relating to the possibilities a boat has in the first place. All, easily controlled through touch screen panels with user friendly interface.
