About Frauscher 1017 Air, after trying it out, it was not the only line that drew the profile of the hull that impressed me. A curve that seems to be traced by a single soft movement of the hand and that goes from the bow to the surface of the water.

It was not the clean and rational plant although the Air variant of the model is very eye-catching, it is true, with the setting from the walkaround. There is the double sunbed aft, positioned above the engine compartment, the two sofas to close the cockpit with hidden under two drawers refrigerator, and another convivial area in the bow with two tables great for lunch, but able to become part of the sunbed that is created when thanks to their telescopic leg are lowered to the level of the two forward sofas.

It was not the bathroom hidden inside the driver’s console, with toilet and sink that for height and space can also be used as a comfortable dressing room. And I must say that it was not even the anchor from the original design that recalls the mask of Dart Fener (or Darth Vader for the purists of Star Wars) that falls on the bow wheel and that characterizes much of the production Frauscher.

Beautiful to see, but steering it is a satisfaction

Ecco, thinking of the boat tried in Port Adriano in Palma de Mallorca to remain impressed will be something you can’t see: the satisfaction in steering it! Funny, reactive, stable, safe and easy. In short, you know the squaring of the rim?

A double-step hull with two 6.2-litre V8 engines developing 430 horsepower each surpasses 42 knots. A boat that although falling into the category of boats, therefore with a structural length of 9.99 meters, allows you to navigate at 30 knots of cruise speed without having to stay with the buttocks contracted for the nervous tension that is generated on a go-kart brought to the limit.

And let’s say that already at those regimes we are about ten knots above what I think is a serene cruising speed when you sail along the coast.  Of course, the sea conditions were a brochure of tourist promotion, but also among the 40 cm chop that the afternoon breeze moves in the waters of Palma, the Frauscher 1017 GT Air did not give any sign of embarrassment, so that a couple of colleagues intent on “wiping” on the phone social moments of the test, even sitting in the front area have not even addressed to the driver the usual killer look that is used in these circumstances when sailing with all the handcuffs lowered.

The usual killer looks that is used in these circumstances when sailing with all the handcuffs lowered.

In short, do not be fascinated by its beauty, stay right under it, as the millennials would say, or transliterated for those born before the 1982 World Cup in Spain, fall in love with it, after trying it out.
