Frauscher 1212 Ghost Air

Frauschers are special boats. The precision and harmony of the features that make up its line is not accidental. But grasping the care of all aesthetic elements is only one part. There is the quality with which they are made and the quality with which they navigate. And sometimes there is also a surprise: in this case a cabin below deck, definitely unexpected given the layout of the bow. Here is Frauscher’s 1212 Ghost Air.

Unlike the Frauscher 1212 Ghost (read the test here) on the 1212 Ghost Air we find a very large forward cockpit. In fact, here the design duo, Thomas Gerzer and Stephan Everwin, designed a large C-shaped sofa close to the walls that surrounds the central table. Folding it down provides an XL sunroom, perfect for accommodating several people in relaxation, complemented by the presence of the high-end JL integrated sound system. Excellent lunches and dinners can be enjoyed here, taking advantage of the side outdoor kitchen complete with refrigerator, sink and barbecue.

With removable shade elements and poles, it is possible to shelter the bow (and stern) area almost completely. About the aft area, taken almost identically from the 1212 Ghost model, we find the center console with two seats, protected by the windshield and T-Top.

Speaking of the t-top, the minimal styling and the choice of carbon as a material make it a dynamic element that does not weigh down the design of the boat, quite the contrary. Alternatively, Frauscher offers the Bimini version of the 1212 Ghost Air, with the option of having a carbon frame and shade cloth on board, which can be stowed away when not in use. Aft of the command area we find a C-shaped sofa that almost wraps around the pilot, while still further aft are the two large sundecks separated by the transom and the tail of the swim platform that hides the inboards.

The impression conveyed by this stern with interplays between empty and full spaces that do not leave one indifferent.

Cabins

Opening the console from the bow, we access below deck primarily the bathroom. Looking toward the stern, the first reaction is one of surprise because the space dedicated to the bathroom/dressing room with shower is really a lot, even in terms of height. On the other side there is, then, also enough space to spend a night or more on board in a sleeping area for two people.

Propulsion

The Air version of the 1212 Ghost is powered as standard by two MerCruiser inboard gasoline engines of 430 horsepower each. Alternatively, two diesel-powered 440-hp Volvo Penta D6 sterndrives can be chosen. The boat is designed with side air intakes, pronounced steps and a deep V-shaped hull to allow comfortable sailing even in rough conditions. Frauscher ‘s 1212 Ghost Air easily exceeds 40 knots of top speed.

The 1212 Ghost Air can already be ordered and the first hulls will be delivered in spring 2024. For information: frauscher.com
