Following the success of the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, fresh winner of the Best of Boats 2024 award in the best electric category, the collaboration between the Austrian shipyard and the famous German automaker continues with a new model: the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom, also featuring the 100% electric propulsion of the Porsche Macan Turbo Electric.

It will have its world premiere at the Düsseldorf Motor Show (January 18 – 26).

Just as two-door Porsches are offered as coupes and convertibles, so Frauscher has decided to offer a new layout of the same hull: if the Air was an open bowrider, this new Fantom is a classic runabout with a bow pontooned to accommodate a cabin below deck.

A runaboaut by design

At 8.67 meters long by 2.49 meters wide, the cabin was designed by Porsche’s own Design Studio, which has curated it with the same quality and attention to detail it reserves for its cars. The steering wheel, the seats, the dual displays available for driver and co-pilot, the LED ambient and underwater lighting, and the high-end sound system make its passengers (up to 7) wonder if they are on a boat or a supercar. The answer is: both.

Porsche’s electric motor

But Porsche’s contribution consists mainly in supplying the beating heart of this supercar of the sea: the rear motor of the Macan Turbo Electric, which can deliver up to 400 kW, its battery pack of no less than 100 kWh, and the control unit. With these numbers, performance can only be devoted to sportiness, as Porsche has always guaranteed. Equipped with impressive acceleration, typical of electric drives, this boat can reach close to 50 knots at top speed, clearly at the expense of a rather low range. Seeking the comfort of absolute silence, dropping to a cruising speed of about 22 knots, the range reaches 24 miles, for a maximum possible range of about 54 miles at low speed.
