Sergio Davì and his New Jolly 38 are sailing in the area of the Faroe Islands, after having completed the tour of stages “British-Irish” as evidenced by the photo above. Davì, who left a month and a half ago, has already covered 2500 of the 7000 miles foreseen for his Ice Rib Challange, a an ocean crossing from Palermo to New York in rib.
The challenge phase begins
The most intense phase of the crossing has begun and the rib (New Jolly Prince 38cc as standard) and the engines (two Suzuki DF350A outboards) will be put to the test in the difficult conditions often encountered in these seas. An important moment to test the instrumentation and equipment that Davì has chosen for the enterprise. The rib chosen, in fact, differs from a standard dinghy only for the windscreen, added to better withstand the harsh climate and for the seats, for which those of Besenzoni have been chosen.

The Broken One
An Atlantic route of about 7,000 nautical miles. Sergio Davì will sail in the cold seas between the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and Canada, before arriving in the USA. For this reason he modified the Prince 38 with a “dome” windscreen that covers the wheelhouse making it dry and safe.
