Genoa is preparing to welcome the next International Boat Show in grand style. Scheduled for Sept. 21-26 is edition number 63, which brings with it several new features, starting with the location in Piazzale Kennedy.
How the space of the new salon will change
Created from a project signed by archistar Renzo Piano, the new Levante Waterfront will expand the area of the Genoa Fairgrounds by incorporating and renovating the Palasport built in 1962. The area where the Boat Show takes place will thus see the creation of an all-new exhibition area, with docks and berths, alongside the Blue Pavilion designed by architect Jean Nouvel. The work will be completed in 2024, with the delivery of the new housing units at the Waterfront, but there will be some changes as early as this year’s show. First and foremost, the opening of the navigable canals to surround the facility, which made it possible to obtain 150 new berths (there will be 250) that can also be used during the fair. Canals surround the entire Blue Pavilion and the new Waterfont areas, creating a remarkable sight for those approaching the exhibition area.
C0what we will find on display this year
Among the boats (sail and motor), accessories and clothing on display from September 21 to 26, 2023, there will certainly be no shortage of big names in Italian and international boating, with their new products and the latest models presented. The exhibition area will be divided into five segments: Yacht and Superyacht, Sailing World, Boating Discovery, Tech Trade and Living the Sea. The boat area will benefit, as mentioned, from 150 new exhibition berths. Around and on the second floor inside the Blue Pavilion will be the usual area dedicated to inflatable boats and outboard motors, while the second floor will be the realm of equipment and accessories, with an area designed for B2B meetings. Completing the exhibition area is the area aimed at the world of tourism, with the presence of major industry players and institutions. In addition to the exhibition area, the 63rd Genoa Boat Show will also be an opportunity to experience the rich program of events, with more than 120 workshops and seminars on topics such as innovation, labor and technology starring the excellence of Made in Italy.
For the fourth consecutive year, Saloni Nautici and Confindustria Nautica are organizing the Design Innovation Award. The award aims to promote and reward excellence in yachting in ten categories spanning sustainability, innovation and design. The jury, this year chaired by the president of the Milan Furniture Fair Maria Porro, will be composed of experts, journalists and academics in the field.
