Grand Banks, a shipyard famous for its cruisers, brings to Düsseldorf a special version of its 54-footer designed specifically for Europe. Indeed, at Boot 2026 (Jan. 17/25) the Grand Banks 54 European Edition, a model developed together with the yard’s British team to meet more European needs, will make its debut.

The result is a long range cruiser with lines that are still typically American and timeless, but with those little touches that make her a perfect boat as much for tackling the challenging North Seas as for enjoying cruising in the warm waters of the Mediterranean. The presentation coincides with preparations for the shipyard’s 70th anniversary in 2026, underscoring the link between tradition, efficiency in sailing and craftsmanship.

On board, the rooms tell the same philosophy. The salon offers traditional furnishings, with lots of wood treated with a classic high-gloss finish, but well balanced by light-colored upholstery to give a modern look without weighing down the atmosphere. Large windows provide breathing space and continuity with the outdoors, while the lounge, dining area and interior driver’s station are seamlessly connected to a European-style kitchen. This is perhaps the clearest sign of a design designed for the Mediterranean, which abandons the location of the galley below deck and moves it toward a much more airy area connected to the outside. The volumes benefit as well, with a three-cabin layout that includes a master stateroom forward with en-suite bathroom, a second VIP cabin also with bathroom on the starboard side, and a cabin with basket beds right in the space freed from the galley.

But the Mediterranean vocation is also represented in the exterior usability, repurposed for cruising made up of roadstead stops and stern moorings. The cockpit houses a sea-facing sofa, with double doors on either side of the transom leading to an enlarged bathing platform, while a gangway and winches in the cockpit simplify Italian-style mooring.

Motorization and price

On the sailing prowess front, the 54 European Edition maintains the focus on efficiency and comfort for which this boat is famous. The hull with Grand Banks’ patented V-Warp technology is designed to combine cruising speeds around 20 knots with a reduction in fuel consumption that the yard says is up to 60 percent compared to comparable yachts. Motorization includes a pair of 900-hp Volvo D13s in the traditional and reliable shaftline. On the maneuverability and comfort side, there is no shortage of bow and stern thrusters (optional) with Humphree fin stabilizers instead of the now more common gyroscopic, a sign once again of a design designed for those who want to sail far, often and long.

Grand Banks 54 European Edition starts at a price of $3,920,000 USD.
