Following in the footsteps of the previous 44′, Grand Banks’ new Eastbay 60 enters production, fitting into a segment that is as iconic as it is elegant and repurposing traditional downeaster (northeastern U.S. fishing boats) lines in a combination of comfort and contemporary technology.
Grand Banks Eastbay 60
At 20.74 meters long and 5.8 wide at maximum beam, Grand Banks’ new 60-footer offers, however, not only class and design, but also promises to be particularly high performance, with cruising speeds of around 30 knots.
Eastbay 60 – Exterior
Sleek and with an evocative design, the new 60′ has a classic look, with a substantial forward overhang well balanced by the rest of the volumes, which visually bring the weights back toward the aft, where first of all we find a swim platform above the water, convenient both for boarding and as a beach area. Just beyond, the furnished cockpit appears as well-protected thanks to high bulwarks, facing forward, of course, to the interior, which is bright but whose access is not, as is often the case, through a large window, but more traditional, through a door. Solution that confirms its traditional inspiration, making it a boat that is also suitable for less temperate areas, as indeed is the U.S. northeast to which it refers.
Continuing toward the bow, the broadside walkways are protected by running stays, a protection that engages the entire broadside, ensuring safety at every step. Finally, reaching the bow, there are both a settee recessed into the deck and two sundecks, positioned above the deckhouse, just opposite the inside helm station.
Grand Banks Eastbay 60 – Interior
As for the interior, the Eastbay 60 features bright spaces, a feature ensured by large windows placed on each side, as well as several portholes positioned along the deckhouse. The living area, located on the deck level, is thus particularly airy and characterized by a main salon finished with warm-toned furnishings and decorations, an elegant solution that fits well with the spirit of the project. A kitchen cabinet, several sofas and an area served by a table find their place here, while on the starboard side we find the wheelhouse. From the forward portion of the salon, one proceeds to the lower level, where accommodations and services, also stylishly furnished and particularly elegant, are located.
Grand Banks Eastbay 60 – Performance
In terms of engine and performance, little information is yet available, but a cruising range close to 30 knots is heralded. In terms of range, however, we are talking about 894 nautical miles at a cruising speed of a whopping 21 knots.
