From May 1-3, the waters of Ravenna hosted the 41st edition of the Italian Absolute Drifting Championship for Crews. The event, organized by the Ravenna Fishing Club under the aegis of FIPSAS, represented a fundamental step for the Italian competitive sector. In fact, the competition was decisive for the selections of the athletes who will represent Italy at the 2027 Big Game World Championship, scheduled in South Africa.
Suzuki Fishing Team Participation and Fleet
Fifty-three total crews were involved in the event. Of these, eighteen boats were powered by Suzuki outboard engines, including official Suzuki Fishing Team crews coordinated by professionals of the caliber of Carlo Bissattini, Federico Maier, Silvio Orgera, Marco Eusebi, and Diego Bedetti. The verdict of the competition field rewarded the consistency of Birillo Fishing A, which won the title of Italian champion with 12,773 points. The second step of the podium was occupied by Team Black Warriors of Club Nautico Pesaro, author of a 10,920-point performance. Rounding out the overall podium was Ravenna Fishing Club A, which scored 7,680 points. In conjunction with the national trial, the inaugural leg of the Suzuki Fishing Cup Trophy was held. The victory went to Team Black Warriors, which confirmed its value by also taking second place overall in the FIPSAS overall standings. The crew, led by captain Diego Zannini and composed of Edoardo Romandini, Federico Grilli, Andrea Franceschini and Ivan Giulietti, showed excellent interpretation of the race conditions. The winning team was awarded the Suzuki Fishing Experience in Tenerife (February 2027): 4 days total (for max 5 people), including 2 days dedicated to fishing with charter captained by Carlo Bissattini and travel, transfers to the island, hotel and food included.
The standings dedicated to the Suzuki trophy saw Team Black Warriors excel, followed in second place by Reel Time A, which simultaneously took fifth place in the overall FIPSAS standings. Third place was taken by Team Macumba of the Senigallia Tuna Club, which came in 13th overall in the national championship. Team Black Warriors’ victory guarantees crew members participation in the Suzuki Fishing Experience in Tenerife in February 2027. The award includes a four-day program with fishing sessions assisted by Carlo Bissattini. The official award ceremony, coordinated by Suzuki and FIPSAS, will take place in February at the Pescare Show 2027 in Rimini, a longtime partner of the event.
Efficiency and technology applied to competition
The performance recorded during the race was supported by technological solutions geared toward optimizing the fishing experience. The Suzuki Lean Burn system made it possible to manage fuel consumption efficiently, while the architecture of the resonance chambers ensured essential quiet operation during operational phases. The high compression ratio and reliability of the mechanics were crucial factors in coping with the fast pace of the competition. The winning team competed aboard an inflatable boat outfitted with a Suzuki DF350AMD Stealth Line outboard. The unit is distinguished by the Black Matt livery that characterizes this special series. Mechanically, the outboard is a 4.4-liter V6 with Suzuki Dual Prop counter-rotating propeller technology designed to offer responsiveness and directional stability even in complex weather and sea conditions. Domenico Sciaraffa, Sales Manager Suzuki Italia Marine Division, said, “Suzuki is proud to support sports activities that share healthy values, respect for the opponent and rules dictated by the Federation. We thank the Federation for choosing Suzuki as a partner in the project.”

True or false? In the Mediterranean Sea,
