Having a well-maintained and cared for boat with the best products, needless to say, not only enhances its aesthetic qualities but also prolongs its life, consequently increasing its value, saving us time and money otherwise to be invested in more frequent maintenance.
This proves to be especially true when thinking about the most delicate surfaces, be they gelcoats, paints, and anything else that needs to be applied on board. At this juncture, however, chemistry is making great strides, as in the case of two of the latest products marketed by Gtechniq:
Marine Ceramic Base

Marine Ceramic Top
, products specially developed to better protect your boat’s surfaces, improving its performance right from the chemical bonding level.
Gtechniq Marine
Founded in 2001 by quantum physicist Drew Gill – dissatisfied with the paint protection for his car that he found on the market – the Gtechniq is a British company specializing in marine products and the automotive. And, just on the occasion of the just concluded Metstrade 2022 of Amsterdam, has precisely unveiled its new marine range, including the two Ceramic Base & Top.
Marine Ceramic Base is a professional-grade product designed to create an extremely hard and durable barrier on the exposed surfaces of one’s gelcoat, so that one can best prevent scratches and lines, even in the most trivial cases, those derived from careless washing or very trivial friction. In addition, the product becomes what is basically the outer barrier of one’s gelcoat, also increasing its gloss and shine, in addition to the already mentioned protective qualities.
Marine Ceramic Top, on the other hand, is a topping to be spread over geltop or topcoat, to which it chemically bonds permanently. Its anti-static and anti-UV properties protect boat paint from dust and fading thanks to a repellent formulation that not only preserves against wear and tear, but also increases and then maintains the aesthetic properties of the application surface.
