The 8/9-meter open boats are ideal either as a first boat or as a compact solution for those seeking performance as well as on-board comfort. It even goes as far as having cabin models, with different solutions depending on brands and needs. What’s new in the market? To help you choose this year, here is a review with 6 new 2023 open vessels under 10 meters in length.
The 6 open boats to watch out for in 2023
- Parker 720 Adventure – 7.20 m
- Rodman Ventura 790 CC – 8.70 m
- Sterk 31 – 9.28 m
- Lilybaeum Lipari 31 – 9.60 m
- Canelli 30 – 9.76 m
- De Antonio D32 Open – 9.90m
Parker 720 Adventure – 7.20 m
First on the list among these open vessels for 2023, 7.20 meters long and 2.46 meters wide, the Parker 720 Adventure is a cabin cruiser dayboat that lends itself well to day trips, allowing, however, to extend them beyond the night, thanks to a double berth carved out under the bow pontoon. With a sporty but well refined look, the new Adventure is a boat that can offer good compromises, starting with the spaces, which are well cared for and well managed without wanting to overdo it.
Starting from the cockpit, the layout is well thought out, with access to the swim platform offset on the starboard broadside, to carve out space for an L-shaped sofa on the opposite broadside, which in turn extends to provide a second facing seat in the forward direction. A complementary coffee table allows the sofa to also be used as a sundeck. Also to starboard is the command post, with ergonomic wraparound armchair. The bow can be reached through a passageway cut into the windshield. Finally, the interior spaces are particularly well utilized, with one very large cabin complete with amenities, as well as a double bed. Motorization includes a 300-horsepower outboard.

Rodman Ventura 790 CC – 8.70 m
Rodman, a symbol of “made in Spain” pleasure boatbuilding, has begun a new course with the Ventura range, to which it now adds a new model, the Rodman 790, the segment’s flagship. An essential entry-level walkaround, the 790 proves to be an extremely down-to-earth boat, complete with everything needed to be a good dayboat as well as an excellent introductory boat to boating.
Starting from the stern are two side decks around the outboard (up to 300 horsepower), ready to lead to the cockpit, complete with sofa, removable coffee table and double seating in the wheelhouse. The latter two, which can be rotated aft, allow the creation of a convivial area facing the table, completing a well-finished and versatile cockpit. Moving to sheer, a large modular sundeck creates a large lounge area on the sea, shaded by a bimini pole system. Recessed inside the console we finally find a small cabin, reduced to call the boat a weekender, but still useful for siestas and/or storage. For that matter, the shipyard has already hinted at the possible arrival of a cabin version of this 790, making this version more than complete as it is.

Sterk 31 – 9.28 m
Sterk, which in Dutch means strong, endowed with physical strength, is a leading German industrial company in the world of boating, Milan Sterk’s MS Marine GmbH. And, with this debut model, the shipyard is already showing good cards, presenting a 31-footer capable of being a fireball on the water at over 60 knots. Certainly, the living work with V-deep hull and double step, immediately catches the eye, especially if you look at it in shoal. The sporty DNA (with up to 600 horsepower delivered by outboard motors) pairs, however, with a very comfortable deck plan with a plus for this size: a particularly spacious forward bathroom under the console.
Looking at it as a whole, this 31-footer has a large aft platform around the two outboards that allows this area to still be usable, despite the two engines. Close behind is a large sundeck that hides an equally important storage space underneath. If desired, it can also serve as a double berth, although the philosophy of this hull is clearly not that of a cruiser. Later in 2023, a wet-bar version and a full-cabin version are also scheduled to debut. Given the performance, the dashboard is sporty, covered by a large T-top. Forward of the bridge we find a second convivial area with a sundeck that can become a U-shaped sofa with a central table. Tank-wise, 530 liters of fuel provide good range.

Lilybaeum Lipari 31 – 9.60 m
Lilybaeum Yachts is back in the news after the success of its Levanzo 25, now presenting the Lipari 31, a 9.6-meter vessel born out of the request of several owners for a larger model along the lines of the road opened by the previous 25′. The shipyard’s insight lies in having combined the sailing quality of a center console fisherman, several elements of which can be recognized in the hull, with a comfortable Mediterranean daycruiser deck.
Starting from the stern, one is greeted by a platform and two outboards at its end on a bracket. This allows for available space and ease of access. The cockpit then houses two sundecks with a central walkway to access the mid-boat, where the front of the sundeck creates a double L-shaped seating area close to the wet bar area. The dashboard, is protected by a windshield, served by two seats and covered ta T.Top. In the bow is a convivial area with a C-shaped sofa, center table and additional seating. All, convertible into a third sundeck.Below deck, a standard version includes a large dressing room with a bathroom with shower and full facilities or, alternatively, a cabin version, to wink at the small cruise as well. Single or dual outboard motors range from 400 to 700 horsepower.

Open boats 2023. Canelli 30 – 9.76 m
Slender, agile and full of promise, the Canelli 30 is a design capable of condensing comfort, technology and elegance into just 9.76 m. Engineable up to 450 horsepower, it also offers particularly successful spatial and technical solutions, such as up to four berths below deck, a forward lounge, and a very spacious aft lazarette.
Starting from the stern, in addition to the ever-present swim platform, the cockpit is made usable in several ways, starting with a convivial area with an opening sundeck (to access a spacious lazaret). Then behind the wheelhouse, complete with seating, is a full outdoor kitchen. Finally, in the bow, we find a forward lounge that houses a C-shaped sofa complete with a central coffee table, on occasion convertible into a sundeck, so as to meet every need of the case. Finally, the interior of the Canelli 30 offers solutions that can accommodate 3 or 4 people-a couple in the forward double cabin and one or two people in the aft cabin, which can be a double or a single, depending on requirements. Of course, there is also a bathroom. The engine, inboard or outboard, fluctuates between a 430-horsepower engine or the 450-horsepower torque.

De Antonio D32 Open – 9.90m
The D32 Open is the latest walkaround from De Antonio Yachts and follows the route set by the previous, award-winning D36 Open. Building on the design and family feeling of its big brother D36, the D32 features the range’s now iconic sharp, clean lines for an elegant, unique and unmistakable look.
At 9.9 meters long and 3.30 meters wide at maximum beam, true to its DNA, the boat features particularly high-performance water lines, driven by the outboard propulsion hidden under the large aft sundeck. This, a solution now representative of the shipyard, makes it possible to maximize on-board space and maintain an extremely streamlined look, but without sacrificing the performance offered by the pair of engines, planned with power outputs between 400 and 600 horsepower, for performance touching 50 knots of top speed. Exceptional performance aside, comfort also abounds on board, with an additional sundeck in the bow-in addition to the one already seen-and a pair of sofas facing the cockpit, complete with table. Between these and the three wheelhouse seats, a kitchen cabinet is also inserted, which is not obvious on this size. Shifting the focus below decks, the D32 Open features well-designed spaces, with a well-maintained open-plan layout complete with two double cabins and separate bathrooms.
