Uber Yacht
Uber Yacht

Uber, the U.S.-based company that provides private transportation services around the world, has decided to jump into boating as well. This means that you will be able to rent a boat fromUber’s smartphone app in several European locations, includingItaly. The service starts this summer and is set to expand in the coming years.

How the Uber Boat service works

By opening the Uber app, if you are in one of the locations covered by the service, you will immediately have access to the boats available for rental. Booking is done directly from the app, and included in the rental price is the transfer from the hotel/home where you are staying to the boat and back, by Uber of course. You have to book at least 24 hours in advance, and rates vary from city to city.

The example of Ibiza

At the marina in Ibiza Town the brand has a presence with a Sunseeker yacht that will sail every day at 12:00 noon starting August 1, 2024. However, reservations for this boat will already be active starting July 26, and the price for an 8-hour outing is 1,600 euros for up to 8 people on board. With Uber Boat you can visit the coves of Ibiza, appreciate beautiful sunsets from the sea or travel to the nearby island of Formentera.

In Italy in Venice

For now, the Uber Yacht water transport service in Italy is operating in the Venice Lagoon. The fare to move around the waters of Venice on board a “Limo Boat” costs 120 euros per ride for a total of 6 people on board, and operates from 08:00 to 20:00 each day.

In Greece, the service is also being launched, and will operate in Mykonos, Athens, Corfu and Santorini, while in Paris one can take advantage of the Uber Cruise service for a private tour along the Seine with views of Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
