When it comes to American powerboats, it is hard to forget one of the most iconic brands, Cigarette. Now more than ever, because the U.S. brand has churned out a new fireball, the Cigarette Thunder 52. Long almost 16 meters and over 4 meters wide, the new 52 is a fireball With offshore hull and incredible motorization, up to 3,000 outboard horsepower. The options, in these terms, are two: 6 Mercury Racing V8 outboards with 500 horsepower o 4 Mercury Marine 600-horsepower V12s. Otherwise, everything is designed to enjoy the sea to the fullest, both on the performance front-with cushioned seating and impeccable water lines-and on the comfort front-with spacious lounge areas and cabin below deck.

In short, if the previous Tiranna 59, with its 2,700 horsepower had amazed, with the Thunder 52 Cigarette raises the bar again, offering more, on a hull almost 2 meters shorter. In short, with an ultra-performing double-step hull, 23° deadrise, and impressive engines, Cigarette’s new Center Console is a hull that wants to impress, a boat designed for those who want to entertain, want to have fun, and who do not want to compromise either performance or on-board comfort. But let’s take a closer look at it.
Cigarette Thunder 52 – Exterior
The profile, needless to say, is that of a Cigarette: it is aggressive, it is sleek and it is sporty, balanced in its leaps thanks to the carbon fiber Hard Top, light aesthetically as well as factually. The first glance, starting from the stern, certainly encounters the “collection” of outboards that populate the dashboard, whether these 4 or 6, little changes in terms of impact and bulk. But the swim platform is wide and, more importantly, is open on the sides, thus still offering agile access to the water (but there is also a hatch in the cockpit to offer even easier access). Overlooking here is the outdoor kitchen, a cabinet with an opening floor where 2 grill plates, a sink and ample storage space are located.
Just beyond the kitchen block, the “summer kitchen,” the cockpit comes to life, with an L-shaped sofa against the stern and port broadside and a sofa for 4 facing toward the center, positioned at odds with the second row of seating serving the helm station. Remaining in the cockpit, however, there is also a broadside hatch that facilitates access to the water, as well as a retractable table in front of the sofas, turning this space into a possible dining or cocktail area as well.
Beyond the cockpit, under the skylight-equipped Hard Top, the centerpiece of the performance front comes to life: the dashboard, served by seven adjustable cushioned seats arranged in two rows. The helm station then, offers all the relevant instruments, including three 24-inch Garmin displays.
Finishing off the outdoor areas comes the large forward lounge, easily accessible via both walkways surrounding the center console. Here one is greeted by a triple sundeck above the deckhouse, fronted by a large U-shaped sofa facing aft with a broadside back. Each area, however, is served by a JL Audio Marine stereo system.
Interior
Not to be missed, the new Cigarette Thunder 52 also offers space below deck. Here, far from trying to be a cruiser, the 52 still offers a healthy dose of comfort, with a leather sofa and equally leather trim by Poltrona Frau. There is also a double bed, a refrigerator, air conditioning and air-conditioning system, and a separate toilet room.
Cigarette Thunder 52 – Motorization and Performance
Coming to the engine and performance front, as mentioned earlier, two main powertrain configurations are available. In a first case, 4 Mercury Marine 600 V12 outboards can be installed aft for 2400 total horsepower. Alternatively, the most powerful version provides as much as 3,000 horsepower aft, power provided by a complex of six Mercury Racing 500R V8 outboards.
Anyway, the fuel tank has a capacity of 880 gallons, the equivalent of about 3330 liters. In terms of top speed, no official figures have yet been revealed, but it would appear to be around peaks of 70 knots or more.
